DPP lodges appeal against Cathal Crotty sentence by IrishChristmasLatte Tags:ireland 5 comments The problem is with the sentencing guidelines moreso than the trial judge. Court of Appeal will be bound by those same guidelines. The fact that there is no minimum sentence for assault causing harm or assault causing serious harm is a joke. Helen McEntee has failed at her job. This person belongs in jail, and hopefully that old fart of a judge retires overseas. Good. It’s a shame it took them this long but no doubt there were some ducks to get in a row. same judge gave 2 years for a weed growing trial. out justice system is a joke Good, some sense has prevailed. It’s shocking that it needed to be done though, the judge should have done his job the first time around. Hopefully he’ll get the sentence he deserves.
