Does your area have one of those weird community rags full of adverts for funeral services and odd job men?
Any fruity stories or funny weird stuff going on in yours?

Yes. It’s shit.
I live in a small town and we have these. All they are is adverts. Totally agree
I’m more of a shower
Yes with a monthly IT Help section written by the town’s local computer shop – a one man band who got in early doors and cornered the market in the rural town. Such gems as install Windows updates and defragging.
In our town magazine, there was a constant saga as to whether the historic church pews would be replaced, some saying they were antiques, others saying they were uncomfortable etc. Yes, that’s how boring our hometown was.
We have one. The only thing of interest in it is the current situation of the local stabby pub’s licence. The pub has a lovely restaurant attached to it, but the pub is quite stabby, so the pub’s licence gets pulled/curtailed, but then the restaurant appeals the decision so there’s a semi constant (it seems) negotiation going on with what licence this thing is allowed to actually have. And that’s literally the only interesting thing in it.
Yes I’ve just delivered ours . .
In our one, they misprinted one of the adverts upside-down by accident.
Apparently the company who’s advert it is got an uptick of customers from it as it was really noticeable and now they ask for it to be done every month.
Nice garden that. Is that looking north over the estuary? I can’t quite place it.
Yes we had one in a little village where I used to live. However it shut down because of a scandal.
The main writer for it wrote a scathing piece on how kids are terribly behaved these days, and how more people should smack their kids.
Cue the massive outcry from the community via Facebook rejecting it, so the author argued then replied with “right I’ll stop publishing as none of you appreciated it anyway”.
It was delicious.
We have no less than 3 here. Ads for building services, funeral directors, local event listings, recipe and a few puzzles
Couple here covering slightly different areas, mostly adverts with a few colums. The local history society does a page in one and some of the write ups are genuinely interesting. Also have fund out about eg a local pub beer festival. Inevitably any tradesman I’ve ever tried to employ through it has been too busy though. I guess the adverts work too well.
