  8. It’s kind of unreal, to see the country my parents and grandparents made lives in dissolve in my lifetime. I was born in the middle of the 80’s. My entire life has been the decline of the United States. I wish the teachers in the 90’s would have warned us, rather than pump us up full of dreams and demand we all get graduate degrees. “The masters is the new bachelors, and the bachelors is the new diploma.” You know what, it doesn’t matter now. None of that matters. Now, we do the next 20 years. It will be painful and sad and violent and everyone will act shocked until whatevers going to happen, happens to them.

If the Supreme Court really just gave the President that much power, and Republicans are slavering over how much they’re going to use it, then Biden should use it first to immediately imprison Trump and other Republican leaders compromised by foreign governments. Otherwise America is likely done.

  13. I think Biden’s speech tonight was excellent. Everyone on reddit is so eager, myself included at times, for Biden to lay a heavy hand on the fascist party to preserve democracy, but by not doing so he has preserved democracy even better. If Biden were to take extreme measures immediately, we would no longer have a democracy, we would have a benevolent dictatorship. Also the fascist party has a gigantic prosecution complex. they want it to seem like they are being oppressed to use that as fuel. Slamming the hammer down on them in way that was previously unjust would be playing into their plan. Lastly you have to consider that just because Biden plans to keep things normal for now doesn’t mean he can’t change things later. You do not need to tell your enemies (the enemies of democracy) everything and you don’t need to forecast your moves so obviously either.

    The fantasy sounds incredible. But realistically, there would be immense bloodshed and Biden’s just not the guy that wants to be the cause of that. Maybe to a fault.

    There is no right or wrong answer here. I imagine he hopes that winning the election will give them some time to formulate a better plan of action. And hopefully get rid of Trump for good.
