  1. > “The president may discuss potential investigations and prosecutions with his Attorney General and other Justice Department officials to carry out his constitutional duty to ‘take care that the laws be faithfully executed,’” Roberts wrote.

The more you read through this opinion, the more you see that the court was checking off boxes from Project 2025.

  2. It’s Canada Day, btw. Please, allow me to say…

We love our American brothers and sisters, truly.
We fight for you and beside you.
    We die for you.
We welcome you with open arms.
We are grateful for your hospitality.
We want to be with you.

It’s Canada’s 157th birthday today, but the headlines are all about you guys.
I just want to say one thing to my older American brothers and sisters:

Re-electing Joe Biden is a second degree burn. Re-electing Donald Trump will leave you in ashes.

  3. As a nation the US has always been what you could say a monarchy of the people with the power only residing in us but today it seems our crown has been stripped away from us.

  4. Outstanding.

This makes it easier to investigate Thomas and his wife and Biden should waste no time.

They can be residents at a blacksite by the election!

  5. Biden should just declare student debt forgiven and Daca kids citizens. He is the president and he can’t be overruled!

  6. It destroys the entire judicial branch. The Pres can now do whatever the hell they want, SCOTUS laws no longer apply.

If Biden wants to bring back legal abortion? All he has to do is arrest any state politicians pushing for outlawing abortion and send them to Guantanamo. Nothing is off the table now for presidents.

    POTUS is the new SCOTUS

  7. Who is marching on the Supreme Court tomorrow and where should I meet you?

  8. When we get past this cause we will, we’re going to look back at this shit show and just be like damn. The power is in the people.

  9. When you read the decision, you can infer the court is radicalized and a mere political body seeking more power.

The irony is that they became less powerful today. And on top of that, they lost even more public trust. The Supreme Court betrayed the citizens of the US today. Some Republicans think they “won” today, but it’s all short term thinking.

  10. Time to mobilize the DOJ. They should immediately begin investigations into all six traitorous justices. Investigations that are positively proctological in their scope. And do not let up.

  11. This is what happens when the People are no longer the People, but Us and Them. You can’t have nice things if you can’t respect each others opinions.

  12. Growing up I always thought the president was immune – until they were impeached. Never really thought about it too much till Trump started doing wild stuff.

  13. if you haven’t seen the movie Vice, today is the day you watch it. It’s very timely.

  14. With absolutely zero interest in dropping just another sarcastic comment:

All the buzz and hush about defending the values of democracy, holding them up, citing historical events, adressing the nation speeches, et cetera, et cetera.

And yet, in 2024, you’ve got the Supreme Court over-ruling all of this biblical collection of long-winding events, memorial, annual speeches, foreign visits, tearing down walls, fighting autocracy.

Methaphorically speaking, with today’s verdict, the SCOTUS was even over-ruling every Impeachment process in US history that had taken place and went through democractic procedures required for an Impeachment.

Even blessing and pardoning the rejection of a US President to accept voting results of the public. Accepting voting results is an official act. Rejecting them must be unofficial then. Especially, when your Judiciary ruled multiple times that there was no fraud.

Free voting – arguably THE most valueable ingridient a Democracy’s got.

After World War 1, World War 2 and Cold War, it only took people in power just another 20 years to forget the lessons we’ve learned.

And it only took people another 20 years to vote for these people in power for them to return to the same mistakes we will, once again, suffer from all.

The SCOTUS has now officially given up on its constitutional obligation to be able to even over-rule a president’s actions. And to protect George Washington’s hereditary that not even a president is above the law.

If this wasn’t 2024, I’d be sure to witness 1933 Nazi Germany politics, with Hitler being able to introduce the “Ermächtigungsgesetz”, empowering him to be above the law and above every parlamential or judicial procedure.

The only difference compared to 1933 is that now the highest court took the first step enabling the next US President to exploit this horrifically. If the name of the next US president will be Donald Trump.

    It’s frightening.

  15. He’s part of the J6 bunch cloaked in his smug little cloak.

  16. Privilege is either a safeguard against mistakes or permission to win at any cost. Which party/candidate stands for which side? SCOTUS just rewrote the rules to ensure our next president fits the mold they decided in this case. That is that a president must have full authority to consider and use illegal means to accomplish his political ends. Never mind that the Constitution requires no such thing.

  17. I can’t see how any of this is going to be fixed, at least not for a very long time. So very depressing.

  18. SCOTUS has handed the One Ring of Power to Joe Biden, and instead of casting it into the Fires of Mount Doom (by taking action against SCOTUS and then vacating their recent terrible decision), he’s going to mumble about decency and honorability and leave the Ring on the coffee table for the next republican Sauron.

  19. These conservative justices who were only appointed because of moscow mitch’s refusal to let obama seat a justice are a clear and present danger to our constitution and they need to be executed as traitors. The new justices can fix this joke of a ruling.

  20. It isn’t rocket science at this point. This Supreme Court is going to tear up the constitution and while they destroy it they will continue to abuse their power. We are headed to an autocracy and winning elections won’t change that.

  21. Thank god we don’t have a convicted felon in the office of President.

  22. The comments on this over at the usual right wing sub are hilariously delusional. They’re so upset about Trump getting prosecuted for things definitively not in POTUS’s job description that they think this is a good thing. Only a couple correctly identified that a “radical leftist” could do *a lot* with these sweeping protections.

And to the guy who was surprised they were so vague: that’s a feature, not a bug. It’s so they can pick and choose who gets the special consideration. They don’t want equal Justice under the law.

  23. Nah the Justice Department is still independent it’s just now powerless against the President. But what Biden should immediately do with his new power is order the Justice Department to immediately put Ginny Thomas on trial for treason and sedition.

  24. Get rid of the filibuster and Pack the court to 13. Any law that’s sets the court size at 9 is now void with this ruling!

  25. Read up on project 2025, get pissed, get upset, get scared, and fucking vote. Idk what else I can say that won’t get a comment removed or put me on a list. But republicans have a plan and they’re working on it, the time to fight back is now.

  26. So maybe Biden should take advantage of this ruling first.

Biden could order his DOJ to:
Perform another search of all of Trump’s properties (including Bedminster & overseas) to see if additional national security documents are found.

Investigate Jared’s role in the blockade of Qatar until that govt gave him a loan for an office building in NY that was headed for bankruptcy with the blockade being suspiciously lifted afterwards.

Investigate the $2b the Saudis gave Jared despite his lack of any experience as an investment advisor and against the advice of the Saudi govt investment council.

Order DOJ to prosecute Trump’s many cabinet members who misused government funds, gave favorable contracts and treatment to cronies and abused their power while in office.

Trump administration’s incredible incompetence and lack of experience. On the first day of the new Trump administration nobody showed up for work.

Order investigation into the former White House Medical office and the distribution of controlled substances under Dr Ron Jackson.

Order DOJ to investigate Leonard Leo and McConnell and their relationship with billionaires who may have peddled their influence to Supreme Court Justices.

Order Trump prosecuted for the ten instances of obstruction of justice Mueller found in his investigation and that he stated could be prosecuted during his testimony before Congress.

Investigate insider trading of stocks by members of Congress who received a briefing about the corona virus before the public was informed.

Investigate why Peter Navarro authorized $36B in coronavirus funds to many White House connected companies without going thru proper procedure. Why wasn’t any of the parties investigated or prosecuted when they were never fulfilled, the goods proved to be shoddy and unusable, or when they could not provide the goods and services at all.

Investigate the receipt of bribes for the pardons Trump’s granted. Especially the ones that did not go thru the White House Office of Legal Counsel pardons Department.

Investigate Ivanka’s receipt of trademarks from China.

Order the IRS to prosecute Trump for failure to pay his federal income taxes.

Order the Release of all the Epstein files immediately.

  27. Project 2025 is insidious and it’s coming into fruition. Corruption is so fucking rampart right now

  28. So there’s nothing to stop the current or next president from assassinating the entire Supreme Court because the Supreme Court says that they should be able to be assassinated?

What kind of fucked up fucking timeline am I living in

  29. Biden *officially* has a chance to do the funniest thing ever.

He won’t, but it’s fun to think about.

  30. Trump destroyed independent justice department

    pack the court

  31. The Justice Department’s independence is only the tip of the spear aimed at the heart of the rule of law. Most absurd and baseless ruling ever handed down by SCOTUS. Ever.

  32. If you wait for the axe to fall on your neck… it will

  33. I’ll be honest – this new SCROTUS DLC seems like a money grab.

  34. you know, all of you are free to go back to posts from 2016, see which group of people predicted what has come to pass, and start listening to them today. this is an open book test, start acting like it.
