July goal: Water filtration
We know that water quality isn't the sexiest topic when set beside flashy stuff like drone jammers, but it is foundational. Clean water isn't just necessary for drinking, cooking, and washing: it is also absolutely critical for wound care.
Clean water saves lives.
russia's vile destruction of the Kakhovka Dam in June 2023 wreaked havoc on the water supply everywhere downstream of where the dam had been. Thirteen months out, units fighting in southeastern Ukraine still often lack regular access to clean water, endangering their health and fighting capacity.
Soldiers are sometimes getting by on as little as 0.8 gallons / 0.3 liters of bottled clean water per day. That's not even enough to drink. It doesn't afford clean water for proper cooking, washing, or wound care.
Sawyer Products is offering us a great price on portable filtration systems which will go a long way toward easing their water woes. Each filter is rated to 300,000 gallons / 1.14 million liters. None require an energy source, which means that russia's attacks on the energy grid can't disrupt this water supply.

Since Sawyer offers a variety of options, we aren't committing to any one filter system. Instead, we'll buy according to the specific needs of the units who request them, whether that be bucket filters, gravity filters, or bottle filters.
