Thank me later Southgate. This would be my personal lineup against Switzerland. Full attacking football and have faith in the youngsters. What changes would you make?

It looks really good. But then I saw 3 at the back. I’m not sure, we have been fairly solid at the back, and putting 3 at the back feels risky to me. It feels like you have solved our attacking line up by taking out a defender.
Also, if we are going to line up palmer in the middle, that might as well be Foden in a position he is more familiar with, and he can play next to Saka.
Is Tripper out for the game? I’d presume so and who else are we going to play at LB if we stick with 4 at the back. I think a 5 could definitely work but I’d play Trent at RWB for crosses/free kicks to Kane. Guehi also being suspended means I’d probably bring in Konsa like you’ve done.
It’s anyone’s guess what Southgate will actually end up doing… probably try playing both Trips and Guehi until he realises they can’t.
Bellingham may end up getting suspended for the game (although likely just a fine). Gordon and Palmer in for Foden and Bellingham. Toney as an impact sub once again, 60 mins onwards this time…
Horrible IMO
England aren’t set up to play with a a back 3, stones wants to carry the ball forward, Declan isn’t a 6. Who is the defensive players out wide, if you are suggesting Walker and konsa then you are also suggesting stones is a lone centre back. It just isn’t balanced at all.
Also one of the reasons Bellingham has been underperforming is because of phill and himself fighting for space in a similar position and getting on top of each other, the solution isn’t to take out Foden and put in another number 10
Why would Gordon play LWB? It’s so obvious if you’re switching to a 5 you need to play Trent RWB and saka LWB. Two wing backs both cutting in would be a disaster. We need width.
If we’re going 5 at the back then I think it only makes sense if we play two up top and have someone running off of Kane and making it so we get bodies in the box.
Southgate will *not* steer from the tried-and-tested 4-2-3-1.
I do hope I’m wrong on this, but the man doesn’t know change even if it were to smack him in the gob.
I just can’t see him daring to switch things up after four games of the same shite.
