Can anyone tell me what these markings mean? I see them everywhere I go.

  1. I’m in Austria to enjoy some skiing and keep walking into doors and walls marked with chalk. It always looks like this. Does anyone have a clue what it means? I’ve gotten quite curious.

    Edit:
Wow came back to this post while taking a small lunch break from skiing and this post kind of exploded. Thanks for the clarification everyone!

  2. Those are the Markings of the “star Singers” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_singers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_singers)

The initals are for the 3 wise man who found Jesus on his birthday (Caspar Melchor Baltasar) followed by the year.

This markings usually are brought on over entrance doors to bless the house. Funny to find it at a bus thou.

  3. C M B is a double acronym. It stands for “Christus Mansionem Benedicat” (Christ may bless this house), and for the (alleged) names of the three wise men: Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar

Every year around the feast of the three magii (Jan 6th) kids dressed up as the three wise men go from house to house, bless the homes and families, write the letters at the doors (or rather exchange the year if the script is already there) and collect money for charity. Kids get a lot of candy that way as well, kind of like Halloween.

Fun fact: tradition has it that one of the magii was black (there is however no biblical text supporting this. The bible doesn’t even state that it was three of them), so traditionally one of the 3 kids wore blackface. To my knowledge this is not done anymore these days.

  4. It’s part of a scam that’s so elaborate, that most people consider it a tradition. The catholic church uses cute little kids to beg for money, not unlike the Romanian Mafia, for example.

  5. *Alternative Perspective:

Every year, a religious cult rounds up all their children.

They patrol the streets to find the houses who are part of their cult and mark them.

The can now easily identify who is not.

  6. This marks a territory of a street gang. Be careful they ask for money to fund their criminal organization.

  7. It is the “three kings day”:
“On the Feast of the Epiphany in some parts of central Europe the priest, wearing white vestments, blesses Epiphany water, frankincense, gold, and chalk. The chalk is used to write the initials of the three magi (traditionally, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar), over the doors of churches and homes. The initials may also be interpreted as the Latin phrase, Christus mansionem benedicat (may Christ bless the house).”

    Details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphany_(holiday)

  8. It’s clerical shit. They (a Gang of young hoodlums) mark their turf by putting gang signs everywhere. They also scream at you and want your money. It’s kinda terrifying if you think about it

    Good times.

  10. some religious nonsense. the initials of the three visitors who brought presents for baby jesus or some such.

  11. The blessing for the next year.

    “20 – C+ M+ B – 19” stands for
“Christus mansionem benedicat” – “Christus segne dieses Haus” “christ bledd this house” in the year 2019 until 2020

Written by the holy 3 kings that visited Jesus in the crib in Bethlehem, as a coincidence many people thinc it´s from their name, Caspar Melchior and Baltasar which it is not

  12. “No exit” – meaning, this is ment for entering only, use the other door to get out or you’re blocking the entrance for those who want to get in.

  13. A famos Austrian Streetgang. They collect money for protection. This sign is mostly to find on doors, so they can see you paid for this year.

  14. These comments are in cahoots with the clan – don’t listen to their lies. “Star singers”; A coverup so ridiculous, it has to be believed.
I don’t know how long I have, I’m sure they’re monitoring this comments section, but I’ve stashed a cache with the info you need to protect yourself, it’s at

Edit: Haha this is a funny joke comment, no need to take it serious. Haha.

  15. It’s a sign for the Cash Money Brothers, a drug ring from New York City, as featured in the movie New Jack City with Ice-T and Wesley Snipes.

Or, at least it came to mind when I seen it the first time shortly after I had seen the movie 😂
