NTA’s decision to scrap flexi tax saver ticket plan ‘deeply unfair’ to commuters

  1. I’ve never used the tax saver tickets, does this make the 3 day commute more expensive than a 5 day commute now if you use public transport?

  2. From the article, it sounds like it’s a limitation of systems rather than anything else. If that’s the case, maybe it’s time to move away from the leap card? Leap 2.0, now with flexi tickets, Apple/Android integration and actual, useful analytics. I’m sure it’ll only take us five years and cost only half a children’s hospital.

  3. Pretty much promotes an all or nothing choice for the consumer.

I don’t think they are going put up with that given the last few years

  4. Fuuuuuuck the NTA. Lazy shower of fucking idiots.

I’m set to have to return to the office one or two days a week, having previously travelled 3 days a week to the office prepandemic.

My annual rail ticket is 3,300 euro. Taxsaver knocks that to 1,716 being 143 a month. A day return ticket is 30 quid. If I’m in the office once a week, I don’t buy an annual ticket. If it’s like… 1.5 days a week on average, I have to pay for 5 days.

Why? Because math. It’s not simple. But for fuck sake, it’s still just multiplication lads. How the flying fuck can the not do what transport agencies the world over have done?

It’s an embarrassment at a national level. Even FG are tearing into the NTA over this.
