  1. From the article:

    > In a letter being sent Tuesday to doctor and hospital associations, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Director Chiquita Brooks-LaSure reminded hospitals of their legal duty to offer stabilizing treatment, which could include abortions. A copy of the letter was obtained by The Associated Press.
    >
    > “No pregnant woman or her family should have to even begin to worry that she could be denied the treatment she needs to stabilize her emergency medical condition in the emergency room,” the letter said.

  2. Time for Biden to order 937 month abortion for Mary Ann McLeod Trump.

  3. Voting is how you protect your rights. The people who don’t vote are why we’re in this mess. Vote this November, then drag your friends kicking and screaming to the voting booth

  4. The President IS allowed to enforce a federal law so this would fall under the immunity blanket from the SC.

  5. He should blanket pardon every doctor in the country and say proceed

  6. Or he could just order the ERs to do so. It’s not like there are any laws saying the President can’t

  7. Doctors and hospitals are not going to risk being shut down under draconian state laws, just because Whitehouse says they can follow a 40-yr-old federal law to keep medicare funding. This action does not protect these medical providers from state law legally, it only threatens their funding for caring for medicare and medicaid patients.

  8. None of you even read the article. It’s not referring to the immunity case. ‘…following last week’s Supreme Court ruling that failed to settle a legal dispute over whether state abortion bans override a federal law requiring hospitals to provide stabilizing treatment.’

  9. “The Biden administration told emergency room doctors they must perform emergency abortions when necessary to save a pregnant woman’s health …

Idaho’s state law threatens doctors with prison sentences if they perform an abortion, with an exception only if a pregnant woman’s life, not her health, is at risk.”

What does “health” included that “life” doesn’t?

This feels very much like a type action that doesn’t actually do anything other than the headline.

  10. Too little, too late. The US just has too long a history of allowing people *who aren’t medical professionals* to make complex medical decisions.

Is this medicine/surgery essential? Doesn’t matter what the doctor says, it’s up to the insurance company.

Is this pregnant woman’s life in danger? Doesn’t matter what the doctor says, it’s up to the in-house legal counsel.

For most states, requirements to save a woman’s life **are already in place**, the entire issue is who gets to determine what defines an “emergency,” with *far too many* examples of women needing to truly be on the brink of death before doctors were “allowed” to do their jobs.

  11. Officially open up federal abortion clinics in each state. It’s an official act, can’t be illegal.

  12. In light of all the negativity going around, it’s nice to see this

  13. I guess Biden could just arrest all opposition now and throw away the key

  14. Can we give trump one of those post-birth abortions he was talking about?

  15. Notice how Biden doesn’t delay until it’s most beneficial for him politically, he just DOES IT. He gained his new superpowers only yesterday and one day later he’s fighting for reproductive freedom in a real way. But Trump will tank a bipartisan immigration deal because the timing isn’t quite right to make HIM look good. There is a VAST difference between these 2 men and I can’t believe the race is so close.

  16. I hope they charge the doctors that refuse to provide them with murder.

  17. This is how you do it. Ignore all the idiots on social media whining about Biden not doing anything (given that it’s barely been 24 hours it’s not surprising the faux-lefties started complaining immediately), the Biden administration has been quite strategic with their executive orders while Congress is partly under GOP control. They’ll roll orders like this out on a regular basis for the next 4 months.

  18. If the president has complete immunity, couldn’t he just overturn the Supreme Court ruling? “Used the stones to destroy the stones” so to speak.

  19. To anyone that will listen: there’s a HUGE loophole in their ruling, they say that any official act has presumptive immunity. But never defined what their test for an official act will be.

All someone has to do is set the precedent that any illegal act is inherently unofficial. Which makes plain sense, for instance, a president can’t sign a bill into law without both houses agreeing, despite it being presumably an official act under the current law. But since it’s illegal it would automatically be unofficial

  20. 6-3 ruling clarifies that only Trump has complete immunity

  21. How about ALL abortions? Why is this fucking always pulling teeth

  22. I am pro life. I approve of this we cannot have families if we let mothers die.

  23. GOOD. Damn, sonzabitches SCOTUS.
MAY YOUR GERIATRIC BALLS SHRIVEL IN THE SUN WITH YOUR LEGACY yuh hypocritical lying basterds.

  24. This is what his administration needs to do. Start pushing the boundaries of Presidential power. Start with things like abortion. Next forgive more student loan debt, maybe make weed legal.

  25. I hate reddit. read the damn article people! this has nothing to do with the immunity case
