  1. Vieninteli dalyka, ką parodo sitas zemelapis yra skirtumas tarp UK ir kontinentines Europos ir tiek, nes visa kita atrodo bullshit- pvz vienas zemiausiu procentu- Belgija – oficialiai trikalbe salis- rimtai? Plius kiek ir kaip tie duomenys surinkti – self reporting/egzaminai ar pns – priklausomai nuo to kiekvienos salies procentas gali varijuot nemazai, I.e paklaida prie kiekvienos salies % nemazesne nei esantys skirtumai tarp saliu

  2. I’m sorry if I will hurt anyone, but I always view native English-speakers (basically Britons, North Americans, Australians) as slightly less intelligent because of this. I firmly believe that ability to speak multiple languages is a sign of intelligence. Most of the time.

  3. Kokiu lygiu rašymas jau reiškia, kad “gali”? Mokykliniais terminais šnekant, kokiam aštuonetui bent pusė Lietuvos net lietuviškai nemoka rašyti.

  7. I’m of Lithuanian descent family name Giedraitis. My grandparents family were from Lithuania they suffered terribly under the Russians and many were deported to Siberia. Now we have to send US troops over there in the middle of a pandemic. The Russian Reddit group keeps talking about how great the Russians are I’m not feeling that way seems like propaganda. What do the Lithuanians think about the Russians on the border of Ukraine?

  8. I think it would look a lot different if the foreign language was anything OTHER than English. I’d wager a very significant percentage of a lot of these figures will be non natives speaking English.

Coming politely from an Englishman in Lithuania, who is learning Lithuanian. Aš bandau draugai!

  9. Not so sure about the germans.
Source, I have been there. Most folks, even young people, does not speak nor understand anything but local.

  10. I feel like recent history has a lot to do with these statistics, world war 1 and 2 there was lots of occupation of Eastern countries which will definitely have an effect. I am British but moved to Lithuania, I noticed how the majority of older generations speak Lithuanian and Russian/German where as the younger generations speak Lithuanian and English, because of the recent boom in social media with a lot of popular content being in English this means the younger generations want to learn English engage in this content. England didn’t get occupied in recent wars, a lot of content online is English so English people can be lazy and not bother learning another language. Not all of us are that way though, Lithuanian is my second language and I’m determined to become more fluent there is just VERY little resources availible.

  11. English speaking countries do not want to learn foreign languages, but expect everyone to know their language and if you got the an accent everyone will ask where are you from. It worked well, majority of the world speaks in English.
