  1. Wow. Went from 27 to 100 real quick. Real fuckin quick

  2. Worst nightmare. But mostly avoidable by not allowing yourself to be in a situation that could even remotely devolve into this.

  3. I think this is the absolute worse way to die. Specially on a hot summer humid indian event.

  4. Always so many people die whenever there is any accident or disaster in India, mostly due to the huge population and density

  5. If you still believe in religion in 2024, you’re 100 years behind on human progress.

  6. We are the same species and our lives have equal value 😃

  7. You know you’re on Reddit when a horrible tragedy occurs and half the replies are saying it was a good thing because all the people were religious. Y’all are monsters.

  8. Can someone please ELI5 why people are making jokes / celebrating / parading / mocking this?

100 people dying is a tragedy basically no matter the circumstances…. Right?

  9. So let me get this right. Someone randomly screamed, people then stampeded out killing 100 people? This article makes no sense.

  10. Always Stay away from huge crowds!! Always!
This can happen even at music festivals and other places

  11. These are the types of stories that remind me to appreciate all of the annoying safety precautions, permits, inspections, capacity limits, ect., that we have to follow in the west.

  12. Crowd crushes are so tragic. It’s not a human psychology issue — it’s a density issue. If too many people are packed too tightly into a space, their balance starts to depend on the people around them, and one person falling over creates a ripple effect in a space where there’s nowhere to fall and nowhere to get up, meaning you can have dozens of people piled onto each other.

People don’t usually freak out and run when this starts to happen — they try to help people, and the cruel reality is that can make a crush worse, because when someone leans to help someone who’s fallen, that person is now susceptible to lose their balance, too. Meanwhile, people at the other end of the crowd likely don’t know this is happening — asphyxiation is awfully quiet and crowds are usually noisy to begin with — so they may move into denser parts of the crowd that are already starting to collapse without realizing it.

Just remember, you’d die in a crowd crush, too. It’s not a question of having a level head — it’s a matter of crowd density.

  13. I was so confused by what a “crush” was… Turns out they ran each other over… To death…

    Seriously what the fuck…

  14. Are crush events common with mosh pits? I feel like they aren’t but if somebody’s got the science of a mosh pit vs crowd crush that’d be cool

  15. Well, if people want to risk their lives go to huge gatherings just because of some mumbo jumbo fantasy BS, it is their choices.

  16. Surprised no one turns around and starts swinging at the people shoving them from behind
