Russian Military Unveils Latest Anti-Aircraft Buggy “Beast Boy”
The Russian military has introduced an anti-aircraft buggy named “Beast Boy.” The vehicle’s chassis is equipped with a dual PKT machine gun, a salvo launcher for 10-gauge shotgun shells, and a series of six AK-12’s.
Additionally, it features smoke mortars for “360-degree defense” against approaching FPV drones. It is unclear how effective this buggy will actually be in combat.
I don’t know if I should laugh or cry… WTF?
I remember seeing an over/under for 3 days before we see the smoking wreckage of a “Beast Boy.” It’s like they’re innovating in every bad way. Motorcycles, golf carts, and now this?! I can happily say that Russia will earn this L honestly.
What is strange is, why are there so many weapon options? Why 6 AKs next to each other? Who is supposed to control all that weapons? Good idea, strange execution.
For the full effect it needs a couple of bodies strapped to the roof and a driver called “Toecutter”.
and if two drones attack simultaneously from opposite sides?
Annnnnd it’s gone.
In theory this thing would be useful. Great for insurgent warfare in Afghanistan. Not good against Bradley’s.
The military oligarchs pocketing money from ‘innovating’ in Ruzzia.
Sounds like a typical orcish contraption. More Dakka!
The idea isn’t terrible, the weapon selections outfitted though are nuts. Assuming that the intended role is Anti Drone, not Anti Air, the Dual PKT’s, sure? Coupled they are a bit more effective for the role but a little low in calibre which limits using specialty ammo types that could help in the role. The 10 gauge salvo launcher? Sure? Bit bubba, but I can see why. But the one I just have nfi on is the 6 stack of AK-12’s. Spend more time reloading than actually firing for marginal improvement in hit probability.
Is that an office chair?
Mad Maxim: Blyat Road!
Why do the Russians always flex on their new equipment, when it looks like something the A team knocked up…
NGL, that dual PKT plus 10 gauge salvo is very similar to what I’ve been dreaming up as the perfect anti-drone AA for mounting on landing ships and APCs. Though really the 10 gauges should be belt fed fully auto paired with 20 mm flak.
What’s funny about aircraft and anti aircraft systems is they both have devolved in tandem. So as aircraft got faster and more advanced, so did AA. They moved from machine guns to cannons to missiles but now they can’t counter things slower and less advanced.
My proposal is simple. Bring back the quad .50
Drone magnet.
First target chose by drone operators will be anti drone devices.
all their gear is on aliexpress :S
No idea how a rimless 10GA full auto shotgun isn’t yet a thing.
Do they have anti javelin defense?
So they stuck a bunch a man-portable weapons on a truck. Wow, what innovation.
I mean, if the idea is to shoot down FPV drones or the like, it isn’t a *terrible* idea. But, this being the Russian military, they are probably going to fuck it up somehow.
They Russianized a perfectly decent buggy. Typical.
