Ian Khama has ‘nothing’ to fear in Botswana, says his successor President Mokgweetsi Masisi

the your predecessor Yan K he is in South Africa you want him extradited uh because uh there’s a warrant against him for possession illegal possession of guns he says I’m not going to come back because my life is at risk especially I’m afraid that I’ll be poisoned what is your answer to that it’s shocking first let me make a correction he’s not in South Africa because I think they had him out he’s in istini okay right now um yes he did apparently is aler said he’s afraid of being poisoned but you know if you look at our the history of um either killings or murders of persons in bana and the methods used poisoning is not one of the ones we know best but of late he seems to be an expert you must ask him he seems to know a lot about poisoning all those people who have been killed buana that I know of or have heard of or read about been through knife attacks or some you know weapon um gun um um Etc or you know but uh poisoning is is rather new and I don’t know where that comes from because uh there’s nobody that I know of who has an interest in his dying I don’t know of any who has the capacity to poison but he’s talking a lot about poison with graphic detail I suspect he’s the expert and if anybody were to die in B we first person is to ask would be him he has nothing to fear nothing we just renewed his diplomatic passport a few weeks ago all his entit thems the man gets and for consistency’s sake look at the arguments he’s been using for explaining himself there’s been a Litany of inconsistency from the reason of him leaving inconsistency after inconsistency for the allegations he makes against myself or my government my party inconsistency after inconsistency I mean we’re supposed to be the worst cheats at elections there’s no change in the way elections are held since the time when he was president even right now we’re going to elections on the basis of the laws that are very transparently available to everybody

In an interview with FRANCE 24, Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi was asked to react to the case of his predecessor, Ian Khama. Botswana is asking for Khama’s extradition due to a warrant against him for illegal possession of firearms. Khama refuses to come back, saying he risks being poisoned. “A litany of inconsistencies”, said Masisi, adding that Khama, who left office in 2018 after two five-year terms, has “nothing” to fear in Botswana.

  23. We already miss Khama in Botswana… why cant Masisi leave Khama alone…. Botswana is no longer the same.. everything is messed up… we miss you Kgosikgolo mr Ian Khama Morena….
