  25. If bloodshed is what they want, in their goal to turn America into a “Handmaid’s Tale” hellscape, bloodshed is what they’ll get. Lots of people like me — peaceful people who rarely talk of violence or, let’s be honest, civil war — will muster to fight this.

    Project 2025 is nothing less than a blueprint for a second American Civil War. And, frankly, there’s a good chance that if we DO have another Civil War, it will spread beyond the borders of America and turn into World War III (think about it: either Russia or China is emboldened by the chaos in America to grab more land, or Texas decided to use some of the nukes on their land against California — who also “has nukes”).

    There’s no way this ends well for anyone in the entire world. All because of Trump’s ego and the utter hubris of the conservatives — who don’t just want to share power, they want a dictatorship. A Christian theocracy dictatorship.

    And, as usual, “my side” — the Democrats — have arranged themselves into a circular firing squad because a few political players smell blood in the water after Biden’s debate performance. And, for instance, I think people like Kamala Harris (who is NOT well liked on the left and will NOT win in a general election against Trump) are more interested in their own political self-interest than in the good of the nation they ostensibly serve.

    We’re going to lose just because we can’t work together as a party. Regardless of what happens in this election, afterwards — if there even IS an America afterwards — there needs to be a GIANT reckoning in the Democrat party. We can’t go on like this, with the party more interested in infighting, or folks like — for instance — the Gaza protestors (whose cause I support, even if I don’t support their political methods) willing to literally blow up the election and the country to get their way.

    I am a lifelong liberal; that is never going to change. But I’m pretty disgusted with my party right now, and its *utter* inability to mount an effective campaign, and its focus on petty political infighting while the wolves are LITERALLY AT THE FUCKING DOOR.

    Frightening times.

  39. Nazis didn’t magically appear – and they didn’t magically disappear after the war. These were all people’s neighbors who peacefully coexisted with them – until they had the opportunity to do otherwise. They didn’t change overnight when the war was over. They just had their opportunity taken away from them. Given the opportunity they would do it again.

    There are many people in the US just waiting for the opportunity. And if these “architects” get their way, they’ll get it.
