I’ve seen plenty of postboxes decorated, but not bollards. Doesn’t it just get covered in dog piss?
No they’d get pissed on
Around here, that’d be either stolen or on fire before Doris got halfway back down the street.
That’s so Romsey. Still amazed there’s an Aldi there.
Reminiscing about hometown traditions always brings back such warm memories.
they do it in Weymouth, also on postboxes
Town near us will knit some santa/elf hats on their bollards over Christmas, pretty neat and avoids the dog piss issue.
The world needs more harmless whimsy. Makes people smile, though sadly in many places it would be destroyed. Took time, and imagination to do. I love it!
It would be pulled apart or set on fire here.
All year long ours are decorated with gang graffiti.
high trust society I wish i could go back
They do it on trees round my way. You know ‘coz trees need a blanket, even in the summer.
Hawes in north Yorkshire also does it sometimes too
Yes.
There’s an annual summer festival, and the bollards etc are “yarn bombed” to fit the theme.
It’s harmless and charming, and helps drive foot traffic to a struggling high street.
This is beautiful knit work
That’s crochet, but it’s ok, most people don’t know the difference if they don’t do one or the other. Crochet is made with one hook rather than two needles. Lovely even stitching though.
Once someone tied knitted squares to everything they could and then they just got soaked with rain and rotted.
This is the cutest knitting art I’ve seen to date.
Post boxes here👍
No but I’m all for it.
my town completely yarn bombed the town hall 😀
This stuff > Banksy
Basically littering.
Nobody’s going to spend the money on using wool for this so it’ll be acrylic yarn. Washing down a load of plastic fibres everywhere.
Bollards no but trees, fences, walls, letter boxes Hell yes
That’s crochet (not knitting) and quite impressive.
Yes. Its part of our culture.😊👍
The Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance is celebrating 30 years by encouraging people to knit/crochet yellow helicopters and stick them everywhere.
Yeah, Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands. The group that does it does this knitting/crocheting thing for the bollards for lots of different events. Fair play to them. Considering we’re quite a deprived town everyone seems to respect them and they stay up for a fair old while 👍
Edit. You can even see some on streetview. The Queen bollard on July 2022 is a thing of beauty lol
This is so beautiful! I wish people did this where I live. And the postbox ones too. Never seen one.
Then again I’m sure the local low iq chavs would rip them off once they get bored of harassing people outside Morrisons or graffitiing the kids play area.

They call it yarn-bombing apparently.
Some 80 year old ladies did it to a tree in Cardiff to celebrate the Corination. The [comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cardiff/s/b9M2boAWfN) on /r/Cardiff were horrible.
Armley in Leeds does this.
