>O’Brien came back strongly at the Sinn Féin TD over his commitments to build 40,000 homes a year, which he said is not achievable.
Housing Minister wins housing debate by, eh, pointing out that it’s not possible to provide enough housing for people.
Takes spoils? It was the biggest load of shite I’ve seen RTÉ air in quite some time. Debate? It was a 20-minute chat from two men that will almost certainly be colleagues in the not too distant future.
The whole thing was messy and Franno was shite.
I do think Eoin had some weak responses in stopping private investment and how to reach that 40k target year one though.
He didn’t make me believe his figures were anything more than pie in the sky.
Wasn’t a whitewash by any means.
Darragh O’Brien with his top button done and Darragh O’Brien with his top button undone always seem like 2 different people to me.
Either way, top button done is not a good look for him.

Didn’t think Big Darragh did his chances of succeeding that dreadful little man Martin as FF leader any harm.
The whole debate was a difficult watch. I think EOB wasn’t as prepared as he should have been. Regardless of policies, I think he’s quite a good politician and would have expected him to come out better than he did last night.
It’s quite clear that a SF/FF government is very likely come the next election so these two will most likely be working together on whatever the new approach is then.
It was a shitshow. Moderator had no control and didn’t get a question answered.
I would be wary of listening to political commentary from Philip Ryan, author of Leo: A Very Modern Taoiseach. He may be slightly biased.
Eoin O’Broin can build houses for 200K in Dublin. Yet Pearse can build them in Donegal for 350K.
Also EOB is talking about halting other building projects to build houses. So yes let’s stop building offices so people can’t get jobs to pay for the houses.
We need homes built to do this we need developers, builders, and tradesmen. We need public homes, affordable, built to rent and private development.
It’s time ideology and complaints about who is making money holding up homes been built stop.
A developer gets public land and builds 1000 houses, some affordable, social and private who cares what profit he makes its 1000 families in homes.
Its all just a big game let’s see if anything changes in the next 5 years , hope I’m wrong
They should have a rematch at Wrestlemania
Why does someone have to win / beat each other…. We just want the facts and implement a plan that fucking works. All this posturing, point scoring and debate winning is tiring. Rant over.
Is Darragh getting fatter on his inflated unearned wage ?
I like how they got a bad picture of Eoin and attempted to get a good picture of Darragh.

The Indo anything but independent as usual
