Oh stop it you with your obvious truths! There are still green voters in this sub 🤡
Soms vraag ik me af of het niet gewoon allemaal een complot is…
well they are insane we really should be building new nuclear reactors right now
The problem is that politicians don’t have a long term vision. If we didn’t have to import russian gas, Gas would be fine as a transition period or when we don’t have wind and solar on certain days. In finland they tried to build a new nuclear plant, the budget is tremendous but even then they underestimated the costs and timeframe. It’s like trying to know what the engineers did in the 60’s to land on the moon. It’s lost technology. We also don’t know what to do with the nuclear bars, we put them in a capsule around another capsule like a russian puppet and hope the capsules will stay intact for thousands and thousands of years.
If People are this upset by this go and protest for it
Here we go , another monthly debate about nuclear energy.
I’m just gonna link the discussions for the echo chamber enthusiasts.
Nuclear is getting old and we need to replace it in the future, so sitting and doing nothing isn’t the best course of action. (Something the previous governments did). Our energy grid is also not very reliable since some nuclear reactors had already been closed for extended times causing an energy shortage. Building new (4th gen) reactors right now isn’t an option because of the extremely high cost (it isn’t cost effective compared to other sources.) We will have to wait a very long time before we can think about building new ones, but we don’t have that time.
The only thing to make our grid reliable is to either have battery storages (which aren’t a viable idea) or have an extra source of energy production that can be turned on and off. Which gas is the best candidate for compared to all other options. So basically to improve our energy grid we need to build renewables and gas options at the same time. Gas for reliability in case our energy production falls short and renewables for energy production.
After our governments did fuck all the past years, green is the only ones that decided to implement our long needed upgrade. The fact that people are blaming green for this energy problem is baffling to mee since green can’t just put up new sources in the short period they got into power, our energy problem is because the previous governments did fuck all. They didn’t expand nuclear when it was cheaper, they didn’t build enough renewables, they insisted on not changing anything because everything is fine right now (but might not in the future…)
I used to be very critical of green but at some point I thought there has to be some reason for them to do this. It’s amazing how much the blame has been shifted on green.
I’ll repeat again and again, because no one ever answered it.
How do you compare ‘waste’ of nuclear vs gas? Do you look only at emissions? Or how do you measure waste that keeps existing for hundreds of years?
How many uranium mines are on European soil?
Getting rid of nuclear power before we have enough clean energy sources is just destroying the earth and raising energy prices.
Either absolute clowns, or they only care about votes and try to campaign of this

Easy:
_ 50% Solar.
_ 50% Wind.
Where do you think our uranium comes from?
This sub’s boner for nuclear is becoming pathetic.
Nuclear power is yesterday’s news. It is not clean, it is not cheap, it is not safe.
You just think it is because for the last 70 years, bags and bags and bags and bags of your tax money have been spent – and are continuing to be spent – on telling you so.
France, where most of our energy is created, is rife with nuclear energy propagating lobby groups. On a European level, there is Euratom. Globally, there is the IAEA.
These exist because even before the end of WW2 the people pulling the strings of the market economy knew that there was a huge money making potential in nuclear energy and they did not want the US bombing Japan to ruin it. So during the cold war it was all about nuclear energy being “peaceful” (due to the limited supply of its resources it’s about as “peaceful” as oil) and when the public eye’s focus shifted from the threat of imminent destruction by war to that of imminent destruction by drowning in molten icecap water, the lobby groups shifted focus to propagating nucleair energy as “clean”.
LPT: if you have to bury your waste deep into the earth’s crust, build a concrete sarcophagus around your stove when it is broken and are seriously considering shooting used up resources into the sun, your source of energy is not “clean” and if you have to do [this](https://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20220204_98207411) it’s not safe.
Nederlander hier. Wij zien Doel en Tihange als tikkende tijdbommen, ouderwetse en slecht onderhouden relics of the past. Niet bepaald ‘toekomst’ bestendig.
Nuclear Power actually doesn’t cintribute to global warming, it’s a big misconception.
