Europeans skeptical Ukraine will win war, poll finds • FRANCE 24 English

now a new poll conducted by the European Council of Foreign Relations Think Tank says that a negotiated settlement is the most likely outcome of the Russia Ukraine war It also says that while support for Ukraine’s cause remains strong across Europe voters think arming Ukraine is not necessarily to achieve Victory but rather to strengthen Ukraine’s hand in future negotiations we’re going to cross now to Kei talk to our correspondent Emanuel Shaz who joins us from there Emanuel tell us first of all more about this part and how you think it might go down there uh well first of this poll uh shows that there’s a majority of Europeans who think uh that uh a negotiated settlement of this war is the most likely uh outcome but it doesn’t mean that uh European Partners Europeans who are asked about Ukrainian support do not support Ukraine indeed there is a majority of European who uh are still in favor of supporting Ukraine but uh the goal the end goal there might have changed while I the uh on the onset of the full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia more people were uh confident that Ukraine will would successfully manage to push Russia out of Ukraine now U European Europeans being asked and uh uh there’s thousands of people have been asked for this ball are more uh likely to believe that there would be a settlement on the actual position they believe that this war would stop with Ukraine having to seed territory now what’s interesting in that poll is that ukrainians were also asked uh what they thought about that and uh you know we’ve been talking here quite often about the morale here and it is very law because there is there there are so few military successes on the Eastern Front Line uh on the southern front line uh that of course people you know bear the brunt they live with electricity uh uh uh they live with power uh Power Cuts very meager electricity Supply uh their relatives their beloved are fighting and uh some of them are not coming back so of course the morale is very low is very low here however ukrainians still believe in Victory there’s 2third of ukrainians still believing in that Victory and so far uh they do not want to concede territory meanwhile Emanuel diplomacy of course is continuing Victor Auburn of Hungary who’s taking over the iritating presidency of the European Council has been there in keev as negotiations they’re also carrying on in Washington as well aren’t they absolutely while Victor Orban was here to basically present the Russian agenda which was to call for a ceas fire and negotiations which obviously is not the agenda of Kev which uh said timeing time and again that it was not possible to negotiate right now and that there was no ceasefire uh inside for the near future because that would be uh enabling Russia to reconstitute its troops and organize a new uh attacks there have been also uh this visit uh those visits officials uh Ukrainian officials went to Washington they uh they’ve uh talk to officials there there is a new Aid package from the US uh inside perhaps said Anthony blinkin before the NATO uh Summit in Washington and that would of course come as good news for ukrainians because they are very worried about the future of USA towards uh Ukraine uh am miss all the uncertainty of course they uh strongest Ally has been the US so there’s a lot of uncertainty there regarding that

  6. That's what happens when an all too compliant media lies to promote the US/NATO agenda. For most of the past year NATO and proxy Ukraine have been losing yet we are told lie after lie we are winning. The numbers of Ukrainians that are being slaughtered at the moment for imperialist western interests is a war crime.

  9. Ukraine was always as likely to win this war, as Joe Biden was “sharp, laser focused, an absolute dynamo”.

  11. Two thirds of Ukrainians believe Ukraine will be victorious !! The country has been under martial law for 28 months. That is the only reason I can think of for the population to express that absurd belief. # 1. No neutral written or voice media, and no open social media. Zelinsky and crew can spread lies and misinformation without being challenged. # 2. Almost certain that fear of reprisal by government henchmen skews any "opinion" poll coming out of Ukraine at this point. From early days of the war there were reports of the SBU knocking on the door of the few brave enough to express dissent. Gonzalo Lira expressed dissent, and Gonzalo died for it. Ukraine is a complete mess.

  14. European elits as well as France 24 are now on the right side of history. Negotiations are the best and only way to have lasting peace in Europe and elsewhere. Thank you!

  15. Crazy believing their own propaganda.
    Ukraine hasn't taken and held a position since Christmas.
    They loose *almost every battle, despite advantages in terms of position, and being in defence.
    Best casualty estimates (like actual estimates as opposed to propaganda) have Ukraine loosing 5x-7x what Russia is loosing.
    Most of the most heavily fortified positions on the eastern front captured by the Russians.

    -> it only gets easier for the Russians, and harder for Ukraine from here on out
    -> and Ukranians still think they can win?

  23. Eventually fatigue sets in if war drags far goo long, we already seen Ukraine facing manpower shortage, most young men left the country after they feel this war is endless that would consume more lives and ruined …😢

  24. Unfortunately, the linger the war goes on, the weaker Ukraine's power to demand. Ukraine was strongest before the war and ever since, it's bargaining power has only reduced

  25. I have been 2 Ukraine 11 times since 2010. Do not place your EU mindset on Ukrainian decision making principles. They would never give land 2 Russia under any circumstances. This will not end in a negotiated settlement. 1 side will loose the ability 2 continue the war.

  26. Ukraine needs support to win. Not the kind of support the European gives which is very little. What the west gives is not even enough for defense. It's like Ukraine needs 10 and the west only gives 0.01.

  29. Not even NATO can win. But Ukraine is dispensable. Ego over common sense and unfortunately, Ukraine chooses ego and is getting wrecked.
