It may well be miserable for them, but perhaps getting children into the habit of a 40 hour normal working week earlier in life will help the transition to workplace/uni and beyond
Not to mention claw back time to fill up missed covid teaching.
How fucking miserable. Basically conditioning children to get used to a 40 hour working week.
God help them and the staff, burnout is massive in education already.
Surprised any teachers are actually willing to do this considering the amount of work they have to do outside of school hours.
> But trade union NAHT Cymru said it had not been provided with any evidence to support extending the school day and raised concerns about the potential extra workload on staff.
Fuck the kids and fuck the teachers I guess.
These trials don’t have any evidence backing them, do they even have a hypothesis?
In a world where people are talking about adults cutting their working hours around the globe.
Some fucking moron thought it was a good idea to make kids, primary school children at that, try and do more hours in a week than the propose hours after a proposed 4 day week for adults?

Double edged sword, i can see the benefits, catch up on schooling, compete internationally for education levels, allow parents to work normal days. I can also see the downside, burnout, teachers adding more hours and work planning to their lives…
Its a hard one
Ah private school
8am-9pm minimum 3 days a week expectation for day pupils. Boarders had that every day. Earliest you could go home was 4, but usually 5:30pm. Often school events on until 11pm
Saturday 8am until 4pm
Amazing facilities and teachers. Shame about the other pupils.
It was normal to be perpetually exhausted.
In France it been like that for a long time start à 8.30 and finish at 4.30 4.45 counting lunch and breaks every 2 hours this is not 40 hrs of teaching more like 36 and normally half day on Wednesday. This is primary only.
Here the school finish to early like 3 so unless paying for carer it’s hard to be working at the same time
Schools are weird.
They’ve got all these hyper-authoritarian rules which are out of step with what most people will experience in adult life, and crush the self-esteem out of so many.
The whole system of values in education is stuck in the Victorian era from back when the education system was attempting to mold people into factory drones.
They don’t need to extent their day but cut holidays, teachers take the piss getting that much holiday a year.
