I am all for the Children Act 2001 where children should end up in jail as a very last option. But start to hit their parents up for a bit of money at least.
For fucks sake. How do you even go about solving this. 13 year old won’t be punished and the parents most likely don’t give a fuck if they’ve dragged up a little rat who is at this shite.
If prison etc. is not an option, it’s high time the state starts financially crippling some of these scum. Take them to the mill – fine them 50K and repeat offences during repayment periods adds on another 20K each time. Like jesus, do ANYTHING at this stage to try deter people. Totally understand how poverty or what not could make things even worse but like realistically what can the country do at this stage? It’s a slap on the wrist in most of these type cases and it does nothing. Free labour for the state? Litter picking for a year? Give me something FF/FG.

WTF is up with the amount of attacks on women recently ?
Besides Ashling Murphy you have this one, the woman in Kilkenny, the Ballyfermot one etc.
People who even think about attacking women should be thought of and treated akin to paedophiles where they’re thought of as subhuman scum and there’s a near lynching if people around them find out.
I wonder if any of your suggestions, such as jail, reform school, etc.. would even work with this child. This “child” scares me as he committed such a horrible crime at 13, I would never want him back on the streets again without a thorough psych consult from someone who is used to interviewing people who commit these types if crimes, the kids answers or entire affect might be terrifying
This kid should go to a youth detention centre until he is old enough to go to jail.
