My older brother got drafted and killed in Vietnam. His body was never recovered.
I wish you could tell him how easy he had it. Instead you can tell me.
True in some,ways.. not true in others.. on balance, I did think they had it harder but very high unemployment rates then and Vietnam are making me,think
jobs, were impossible to get many places, too
Yeah, I was 17-27 in the 70’s and life was pretty easy.
This just in gen z and millennials can only focus on negative shit and love to blame other people. None of you ever look at the positive shit for our world boomers have done but dont worry being negative is great for you!
And (some) boomers are faced with having to support their non-productive children in their retirement while the boomers left home one or two decades before their parents retired.
It’s like, how stupid can these arguments about “which generation had it better” be?
Crap like this is injected into the community solely to create friction so we can’t ever unite against the Oligarchy.
Why in the world did the gay community go from LG to LGB to LGBTQ to LGBTQ+ to whatever in the world is going to be next?
These are memes put out by the “Deep State” to get us to fight each other and not them.
Take Iraq for instance. The Shia and Sunny got along “just fine” until the US invasion and the NED/CIA financed splinter groups on both sides started murdering the “other” creating chaos which the neocolonialist thrives on.
Stop falling for this crap!
They gave it MUCh easier
It’s easy to spot the boomers in this thread because their arguments are trash and their grammar is atrocious
Young people today lack education about recent history, so they just bullshit on TikTok, Instagram and Reddit. I am tired of trying to educate fools.
Pretty soon I will be tired of Reddit, too. I don’t even bother with the other two. If my money was so easy to make, how come it took me 50 years of working to do so?
why is it politically incorrect to figure out that with double the world population and a truck load of resources more spent on much bigger older populations to extend their life expectancy, a much the burden will naturally fall on the young?
Milennial here and life is basically stagnant. Can’t make enough to buy a home. Work too much to just afford to keep working/not be homeless. So tired all the time. Too tired to date or even think about a family. Good times.
Boomers were not afraid to work and didn’t look for handouts.
Only because they drank the Koolaid of Socialism.
In some instances, yes it was easier. Not nearly as easy as most young people believe but yes, it was easier. After WW II and Korea, we wanted to “reward” the men who fought for our country. We had the GI Bill, we had so much of the world’s economy, we could pay well. That lasted about 20 years. Then came the 80s the “greed is good” decade. Investors were all who mattered. Wages went down, jobs got sent overseas, ROI was really all that mattered.
So yes, we did pay people starting out with just a HS diploma or just out of college better. You could make enough money working retail as you got above min wage and got yearly raises. But no not everyone was able to buy a house on a single income. And certainly when they cut salaries that affected Boomers as well.
I don’t think generally any generation alive in the US actually knows hard times in the way they happened before WW2.
Yes, but everybody remember the 80’s sucked worse than today. I was there and not even fast food was hiring.
The last call for the draft to Vietnam was in 1972. So I’m not sure 1970 is a great time to pick. I think not being drafted is a huge plus for people these days.
