So maybe Biden can act like it and save America. He won’t and he will blame voters. Fk all y’all politicians.
Gödel strikes again
He’s more optimistic about this Supreme Court than I think is warranted. They aren’t going to reverse their immunity decision. This had nothing to do with interpreting the Constitution. It had everything to do with protecting Donald Trump and enabling permanent Republican dominance if he gets back in control. There is no other way to interpret not just the basics of the decision but also the poison pills they dropped into it and the deliberate delay of releasing it. This court is illegitimate. They are interested in the law only as far as they can twist it to suit their goals.
The big hole in the decision is that the President needs officers to carry out their acts. . The President cannot act alone and it is these officers who are not immune. . I hear you say now, ‘But surely the President can pardon these officers?’, but a pardon only works if the officer is convicted so it would be best if the DOJ waited until the President left office to bring an indictment extending the protocol that the President is not indicted in office to not indicting the officers while the President is in office . . This is what is happening now to Trump’s associates as they are left to pay the penalty for Trump’s misdeeds
It is the officers’ culpability that is the fetter on the President’s immunity
Under the Constitution, Presidents can be impeached for “High Crimes and Misdemeanors”. However, now that a President cannot commit any crimes under our Supreme Court, it would appear that impeachment is also off the table.
The idea that the Court can just “insert” it’s interpretation into the Constitution is baffling.
Take a breath you right wing nutters and think. What if the Court decided that IT had the right to tell you what is and isn’t “life”. Cut out the voters. Dictate when and what life was? Relied on ancient text and phrases like “the quickening” to assign personhood?
Would you support that? Of course not.
To all you right-wing fascists who would assume that the Court should be respected in that case, I can only tell you that there will be a day that “power” you granted for good, will be used for evil.
The object lesson here is never give any institution that much power. Obviously it will shift, and then the sword you gave it will be turned on you.
Remember, you reap what you sow. How is your crop looking?
The thumbnail looks a bit like John Oliver with his hair grown out.
The left has gone bonkers on this ruling and it’s amusing to watch the fallout. Please, keep going…….
That entire decision is painful to read; it’s like something written for a first-year law moot court. They made a decision and then twisted the fabric of the Constitution to fit the decision.
