  2. She says the show wasn’t a hit and didn’t get good ratings, so it almost got cancelled…but didn’t. That’s really not an example of a network treating a show badly.

    I’m always surprised when I re-watch episodes like the Harvest Festival or the Unity Concert because it sure looked like NBC spent a ton of money on those episodes. For a show that wasn’t a hit.

    I adore Parks and Rec, but I only got into it in reruns after it was long off the air.

    I had watched the pilot episode when it initially aired and didn’t like it. I think it came off as a copy of The Office, at a time when The Office was still on the air and I wasn’t in the mood for more.

  4. They probably lost a lot of viewers with that god awful first season. Nothing but gold from then on tho.

  6. I’m starting to think that all studios execs just treat their shows like shit unless it becomes Friends, Big Bang Theory, or a Dick Wolf joint. Donald Glover mentioned in an interview I read last week that NBC always shit on Community and the studio compared it to how much better Parks and Rec was.

    They stole Adam Scott away from Party Down and essentially ended Party Down 

  11. Pre-Scott/Lowe Parks was a terrible show. Almost two different entities.

  13. They didn’t put much faith in it to begin with, it was a ‘The Office’ remake and the first season shows how god awful their attempt was. It took a minute to find a stride and make Leslie into a likable character and find their own style. Lucky they got the time to find it really

  14. They got treated poorly, but so did so many other shows on NBC. It’s kind of funny how some of the biggest properties in streaming had terrible ratings to the point where NBC was ranking in fourth behind telemundo for viewership.

  15. Can confirm studio execs fucking suck. They are successful in spite of themselves.

  16. Rashida Jones on Dinner Time Live was an eye opening watch. She’s basically a Goop wannabe and her aura of hipster cool chick was totally obliterated.
