I was about to get annoyed at these kayakers for wasting the RNLI’s time but it turns out someone else had called them out to rescue them
It’s odd that they didn’t try them on the radio, or that the kayakers weren’t monitoring the emergency channels, which would be standard for sea kayak groups.
As someone in the rescue services, I much prefer to find someone drinking tea than the alternative
Is this sort of false alarm something that could be reduced with high end military recon drones?
Best outcome
Well intended call. No harm done here
I’m assuming they asked the RNLI to join them in a cuppa?

“I’M DRINKING SOME BARRY’S TEA FROM THE FLASK”
Better safe than sorry surely.
