1. She is so hateful. Flying a pride flag is “monstrous”? The Tories need to stop the “lunatic woke virus”?

   I really hope she doesn’t become the new Tory leader. I’ll sign a petition to call for her expulsion out of the party.

   Posted this response on /r/ukpolitics as I’m so tired of the bullshit from the right and from deranged ‘gender critical’ activists

   (a) Trans surgeries never have been done in the UK on anyone under the age of 18. Theoretically, there *could* have been the possibility of trans guys getting top surgery at 17, but delays made this impossible anyway. Braverman is just straight up lying.

   (b) Trans surgeries are not ‘mutilation’ – years ago I used to just hear this rhetoric from the far right, but now, thanks to most of a decade of moral panic, it’s commonplace and it’s fucking disgusting.

   (c) people are **sooo** worried about trans kids, but when you point out to them that the “uptick in deaths” for trans kids waiting for help, you don’t give a shit. it doesn’t matter than detransition is being shown to be increasingly rare..or that detransition half the time means ‘desisting’ or that a good proportion (1/2 according to one survey) end up retransitioning..or that people sometimes detransition because of the hostile environment from most of a decade of moral panic. etc etc

   (d) Also, whilst I’m here, the Cass report, as awful as it was, **did not suggest stopping puberty blockers**, it recommended caution and research attached to its prescription. It was NHS England and Victoria Atkins who overreacted.

4. I will never understand why people are offended by other people’s choices. It’s like modern day nazism. 

5. Homophobia is on the rise at the moment – I’ve really noticed a shift towards more conservative attitudes towards LGBTQ+ communities in the school I work in recently.

   Braverman expressing these thoughts certainly does not help moving towards equality. What a horrid person she is.
