Hi everyone, I've been planning on moving back to Norway for a while now. I read on the UDI website that if you apply for a work residence permit while visiting on a visa free passport you can stay until the application goes through even if your visa free residency expires before the application goes through. This can be seen on this webpage.
Now, the terminology is a bit vague here. Does this also apply to the job seeker visa for skilled workers? And if it does, then how does that work with the job seeker visa requirements? The job seeker visa says it lasts 6 months from the day you enter Norway. Would the job seeker visa be retroactive to the date you entered on your passport? What if the time for the application to go through is longer than 6 months? What are the rules in the in between period? The lines are all pretty fuzzy.
The reason I ask is it is a lot easier to submit paperwork in Norway than it is at an embassy and being in Norway would allow me to do things like language testing in the meantime. I would ask UDI themselves, but they aren't open for questions until August 12. I'm planning on making moves this year, but the details are all up in the air because of this.

I would advise you to wait until UDI opens an email line again and asking them a question there.
However, I don’t always get an answer haha.
It is safer to get the answer in writing as I know people who were charged with visa violations when they did specifically what UDI said on the phone.
