French govt meeting with Macron to prevent far-right takeover • FRANCE 24 English

we’re going to get more reaction now from president macron’s Camp that’s with our Peter O’Brien who’s at the El presidential palace in Paris Peter maon has been holding a meeting today a bit of a crisis meeting what’s he been saying to his minister so far we saw a string of ministerial cars F into the Elise Palace just behind me about midday we’ve not seen them come back out again we know that Gabriel atel the prime minister is among those is talking to the president right now and what they’re trying to do is nail down the message the message that they should have already had nailed down the moment we got those results at 8:00 p.m. last night instead a couple of hours later prime minister Gabriel did come out and say no votes for thetion the far right let’s make sure that whenever we have a candidate in third place in one of those 300 three-way runoffs next Sunday we we make sure that candidate does not run to give as much chance as possible as the candidates facing off against the Ern to actually win that seat and deny the Ern and absolute majority in Parliament but since then we’ve seen a variety of confused messages from other other Party Loyalty from the outgoing um the outgoing assembl National president y Al BR from Bruno the mayor the Finance Minister and from other um parties allied with macron’s party edar Philip the head of the Horizon’s party they’ve all had different ideas and they’ve said actually some of them no we don’t want any votes for the um farle LF party as well which is dominating this leftwing block so we’re not seeing one clear message for what voters should do and even for what candidates uh should do who’ve all got their own ideas and in any case what we’ll see next Sunday is voters perhaps not voting tactically anyway the ones who would have wanted macron’s Camp to win a lot of them will not be able to hold their nose and say I’m going to vote for the farle and on the same side leftwing voters are very sick of macron as well so even if they do manage to get a strong message out we’re not sure how it might affect the vote all right Peter thanks so much for that Peter O’Brien there at the El presidential Palace

French President Emmanuel Macron and his allies were on Monday battling to prevent the far-right from taking an absolute majority and control of government in a historic first after his gamble on early elections backfired. FRANCE 24’s Peter O’Brien reports from the Elysée presidential palace in Paris.

  1. "we must undermine democracy to prevent a democratic outcome to protect democracy"……. did every Journalist and far-leftist forget the very very Liberal concept of "those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent revolution inevitable".

  2. hey ! "mac-roon" that`s why they call it democracy ! the people are voting ! government is not just for the rich, elitist, & liberals !

  3. What's feeding the Right-wing takeover of European Governments? Migrant Crisis! Most migrants are not asylum seekers – they're economic migrants aspiring to settle in countries with free hand-outs! Just stop the migrant housing and financing for arriving migrants and they won't come and the ones there will leave. Then the right -wing parties will fizzle away. FIX THE MIGRANT CRISIS!
