Good, fuck anyone discriminating against people with disabilities.
Hmmm…how blind must you be, to not see a guide dog for what he/she is?
€7k seems reasonable, a big chain like Dealz should have better trained staff.
>After the man confirmed when she asked that he was security, she asked for the manager, who was already on the way.
>The manager said immediately that Pilot was “welcome” in the shop and that it had been a mistake that “should never have happened”, the tribunal was told – the manager and the security guard both offering apologies, Ms Lattimore told the Commission. She also received an explanation about “the rotation of security guards”, the tribunal noted.
>“Outside the initial confrontation with the security guard she did not fault the staff,” wrote adjudicator Penelope McGrath in her decision.
“Humiliated and embarrassed and somewhat vulnerable”……there’s the banker.
Great to see the sub in complete and wholehearted support of people with disabilities advocating for themselves as usual.
Right, I have only read the comments, so my take may be completely wrong, but 7k for something that was immediately rectified by the store? Feck off…. People make mistakes. In fact, I dare say that security guard probably feels a whole lot more vulnerable now that he cost the company 7k.
Also, for those saying train him, is there training material out there that actually details this kind of thing? Like, material that states “this is an identifier of a blind person”, and, “here’s how we treat them”.
I’ve worked in the industry and never seen it, but I had shitty cheap bosses, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it did exist.
Disgusting carry on, how can you not recognise a service animal?
We technically weren’t allowed have pets in our store either but I used to love meeting people’s pets regardless if they were a service animal (obviously can’t interrupt them when they’re working).
Ah sorry not but you can’t be commending this lady and giving off about insurance prices at the same time…. 7k is a joke for an instantly rectified mistake. So embarrassed by it you decided to drag it through the courts for a payout, sure….
