Good
Now we need to ban the Scottish from getting any money from this
Good!!! Let’s build!!! Its the best way to grow the economy
>The change, which comes into force immediately, will be confirmed to parliament on 18 July after the Commons resumes sitting.
Labour also announced on Monday that it would go a step further and consult on whether to designate large windfarms as nationally significant infrastructure projects, meaning that the energy secretary, Ed Miliband, would sign them off and local councils would not have a say.
“We are therefore committed to doubling onshore wind energy by 2030. That means immediately removing the de facto ban on onshore wind in England in place since 2015. We are revising planning policy to place onshore wind on the same footing as other energy development in the National Planning Policy Framework.”
Stick it in the manifesto 3 things happen.
Civil service knows its a priority they have to plan for.
Lords cant block it so it sails through on a Commons majority.
Corporations can start planning infrastructure.
Then you have people who understand the brief and the department they can get legislation that aligns your policy goals with the “plumbing” of government rather that coming up with policies that get a good headline in the newspapers.
Wow a government that actually realises they have the power to enact meaningful change, instead of the drivel since 2016 who thought that by simply announcing a policy, it would just happen.
To all the people against wind farms. Yes they do look ugly, but it’s not as if these turbines are going to be here forever. It’s a good solution until we develop more efficient ways of clean energy. I’m all for these being a good place holder for the time being.
The green party will be fucking fuming hearing this.
need some nuclear plants for long term and redundancy tho.
You know full well that if this had been a Johnson pledge his ‘onshore windfarms’ would’ve involved handing out a bunch of battery powered fans to anyone passing No. 10 and declaring the problem solved.
This government is *already* night-and-day above the previous five years of Tory government simply because they’re not attempting to stir shit up – they’re just doing stuff.
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind
