Een sterke sociale zekerheid ALLEEN doet dat wel? Niemand werken, allen aan de dop is de oplossing van al het leed blijkbaar
Terrible article imo. No link to the actual study, and the only argument is “het zijn de gezinnen die een loon uit arbeid combineren met een vorm van inkomensbescherming, die de sprong uit de armoede kunnen maken. Een sterke sociale zekerheid gaat hand in hand met een hogere werkzaamheid.”.
Doesn’t every household in poverty combine their salary with social benefits? There is no control group here: we don’t know how similar households would have improved their income if the social benefits were organized differently. It seems that they only look at the situation in all Belgian regions and see that poverty decreases, so they say “look, it must be due to social benefits!” and they ignore things like progressive taxation, which could also contribute.
Maybe those things are addressed in the actual study, but there is no link to it, and the article doesn’t discuss these things.
