Despite living in the area my whole childhood and being raised Catholic I never even knew it was there until I was quite old. For years I thought it was just an unassuming extension of the Rainbow Centre. Whereas nowadays I really enjoy its simple but effective design and lack of ostentatious features.
I’m so torn. On the one hand, the hubris and extravagance of the Catholic church depresses me no end when there is so much poverty in the world. These other cathedrals are a monument to lip-service when caring for your fellow humans.
On the other hand, this is a pretty darn depressing building.
All the other cathedrals showing off their amazing architecture and stone carving….then there’s this 🙁
It looks more like one of the Mormon or Jehovah’s Witnesses “meeting houses” than a cathedral or even a church
