We’ve known this since the summer of 2022. The problem is Russia’s defensive line is extremely solid and practically immovable. Ukraine will not break through with drones and small group attacks. They need to get 100,000 troops assembled to push on one point, just like the large offensives carried out by the Allies in WW1. Ukraine also needs strategic bombing capability. Ukraine will proabably have to destroy Donetsk and maybe even several other cities in the occupied territories to win this war.
ruzzia lacks troops to defend its borders ,when will xi and the Fin’s figure this
Quote: [Russia lacks the munitions and soldiers needed to launch a new major offensive in Ukraine, Reuters reported on July 9, citing an undisclosed senior NATO official.]
One of the easiest predictions was that Putin would quickly burn through his reserves. Since the rebellion and his assassination of Prigozhin, he’s sidelined or got rid of all competent commanders. He’s surrounded himself with yes-men and orders constant repeated frontal attacks all along a front hundreds of miles long. The local commanders try to work around his orders but have no choice but to carry out his constant meat waves.
The result is a constant stream of around a thousand raw recruits sent to quickly die for small gains of limited strategic significance.
Sadly so does Ukraine
Didn’t we had similar “feel good” statements before Avdviika offensive? New Kharkiv offensive?
These statements are nothing more than naive wishful thinking and probably partly to make excuses of having no urgency or will to supply Ukraine with stuff their need to win the war
Ffs Russia isn’t lacking anything. Ukraine is lacking ammunition, send more!
The world needs to make sure they don’t even have the means for defensive operations in ruzzia, let alone Ukraine
That might make the kremlin think about getting the F out, and even then I’m not so sure🤷🏻♂️
Honestly, I’m all for the Ukrainians hopefully stomping the shit out of Russia, but I’m starting to get really tired of these copium “Russia is running out of X” articles. The same shit has been said so many times since almost the beginning of the war that it’s starting to get hard to believe honestly. It’s a huge country with massive amounts of resources and I (unfortunately) don’t think they’re running out at all.
If they lack what they need for a major offensive, they may lack what they need for a major defensive.
Go for it. In an ideal world “it” would be Crimea, that would be a hell of a way to do mid-summer festivities.
edit: if the generals/etc think there is a strategically smarter move, then obviously listen to them. I’m just a guy spouting off on the internet.
This doesn’t add anything to the discussion. They have oil and gas money enough to keep Moscow fed and war factories running even at reduced speeds. They have a lot of meat bags to send to the frontlines.
What we need to worry is what Ukraine needs to be on the offensive because that’s the only way to end this war.
This could all end pretty quickly if NATO simply provided strategic and tactical air support. Wouldn’t even require a single Western troop on the ground.
