Ukraine Gets Major Air Defence Boost By NATO As Russia Pounds Kyiv With Missiles

At the NATO 75th anniversary summit in Washington, US President Joe Biden announced a major air defence package for Ukraine. In his opening remarks, Biden said, “Putin wants the total subjugation of Ukraine,” however, “the war will end with Ukraine remaining a free and independent country. Russia will not prevail.” Biden’s speech comes amid doubts over his fitness to govern and calls to quit the 2024 race after a poor debate against Trump. New air defence support from NATO for Kyiv comes after recent Russian strikes. Ukraine’s President Zelensky says the Russian missile barrage killed 43 people. Meanwhile, Zelensky in Washington faced questions over US elections. He said he could not predict what Donald Trump would do if elected to a second term but hoped America’s support for Kyiv would not change.
