Imagine spending €0,40 during a vacation anywhere in Southern Europe. That’s an insane amount, they don’t need that kind of money..

  1. At least it’s a positive amount unlike the Greeks who remove thousands of euros from the economy …

  2. They’d just spend it on prostitutes and bribes anyway

Good on you Willem for always taking your own food on holiday to minimise the amount of money handed over

  3. There might be a black market issue if people actually only pay 40c per visit.

  4. On vacation i only go to restaurants to shit in the toilet and drink a free tap water. All other supplies are stored in my car (where I also sleep)

  5. They’re contributing more than most Greeks.

    Very ungrateful.

  6. Cheeky fucker, I just spent a few hundred euro on alcohol in Greece just last week. If he wants to give it back, I won’t say no.

  7. To the mayor of Athens: „your bank account is not the economy.“

  8. I spend about 2000 when I go to Greece, but I always make sure to cause 1999.60 worth of damage to local infrastructure.

  9. 40 cents is like half of any balkan country’s economy

  10. Sellers evade taxes 😎😎😎😎🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷💪💪💪💪💪💪

  11. this can only come from a dutch person, I thought to myself before spotting the flag.

  12. Come to Britain, the British Museum is free to enter and you can get all the benefit of not contributing anything towards the Greek economy without having to go to Greece.

  13. I’ve just got back from Corfu. The tavernas would ask if I was paying cash or card before ordering. If I said cash I got a hand written receipt. If card it was an actual one from the till.

I suspect no tax is getting paid on the cash transactions…

  14. or they add 20 euro and 19.60 of it ends up in bank accounts in Bermuda 🤨

  15. OP I didn’t even need to check your flair to know where you’re from

  16. How did I know this was a Hollander on their luxury holiday?!

  17. we are talking about a country that for years and years was beating even Hungary in the most corrupt European countries lists… yeah, tourists, that must be the problem

  18. Hah poverty! just pump a shitton of oil that you stole from the Danes, its really that easy!

  19. It’s insane that Greece has such a huge problem with tax evasion.

  20. Maybe to the Greek state. The problem is that the tourism sector in southern Europe is averse to paying taxes or respecting worker’s rights.
The only winners here are private companies. And yet, it’s still not enough.
Now they want people to work 6-days a week under increasing precarious conditions.

  21. Well, he didn’t say that. He said that they leave around 0,40€ per capita to the city of Athens. Which makes me very happy ngl.

  22. Today in Catalonia I saw a Dutch couple with a camping car that sent their kid to return an electric fan from Lidl. Maybe that’s the kind of tourist they have in Greece.

  23. Whoops. Forgot to send Tikkie for the remaining €0,40. Thanks for the reminder.

  24. Yeah, im sure part of the issue is **not** the evading taxes from all the sellers/vendors/hotels/restaurants/etc..

Thats **not** a commun issue at all in most of southern Europe, I swear.

  25. what does he mean “the economy”.
i think he means “tax money” because they don’t pay them

  26. If your only getting .40c per tourist Stavros, get better at offering tourists what they want. In Ireland we’ve got yanks dropping €800 a night in shit hotels and shit weather just by being nice to them. Have you tried being nice?

  27. Creative accounting, mixed with a pint of ouzo and a dash of fiddlesticks

  28. ICauseRiots got the attention of the mayor of Athens. Dude should be banned from entering Europe and should go back to Uganda

  29. This won’t do much to bolster the reputation of Greek math skills.

  30. Lmao I’ve been there and nobody ever accepted to be paid by card, only cash.

  31. Meanwhile the average Greek provides -€0.40c to the economy

    It’s a tricky situation cotton.

  32. I must be a God to the Greek economy. I once left a tip in a restaurant of €10 because the food was really good.
Bam! 25 times the income from one guy!

  33. How are they working this out?

This seems like a really weird bit of accounting.
