A lost railway car spotted on the road in Lausanne

Today, I witnessed something quite unusual and interesting near the Malley metro station in Lausanne. I was walking down the road when I saw a railway car being transported right on the road! I managed to capture a video of it, which I've attached to this post. Has anyone else seen this happen before?

The sight was surreal – imagine seeing a railway car, which you'd typically expect to be firmly on tracks, rolling down a regular road. It was being carried on a massive trailer, moving slowly but steadily. The whole scene was quite a spectacle, with curious onlookers stopping to take pictures and videos.

I did a bit of research and it seems that this kind of transport is not entirely unheard of. Sometimes, railway cars need to be moved for maintenance, repairs, or even to be delivered to new locations. Given Lausanne's robust rail network and the ongoing development around Malley, it’s possible this was part of a broader logistical operation.

Has anyone else encountered something similar? Or does anyone have more information on why a railway car would be transported this way in our city? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any insights you might have. It certainly made my day more interesting and reminded me of how interconnected and dynamic our transportation systems are.
