PM Modi’s Message to Putin on Ukraine War: No Solution on Battlefield | Vantage with Palki Sharma

[Music] [Music] from [Music] [Applause] the last 24 hours have been quite eventful Prime Minister Modi and President Putin have met twice first for dinner on Monday and then today for the annual India Russia Summit they reviewed the entire spectrum of the bilateral relationship from the war in Ukraine to defense trade and energy all of it was discussed they resolved some pressing issues and the visit ended on a high for the Indian Prime Minister he was honored with Russia’s highest civilian award the order of St Andrew the apostle he was awarded for his contributions to the India Russia [Music] [Applause] relationship in fact the award was announced in 2019 but the ceremony could not happen then because Prime Minister Modi had to postpone his visit so he was formerly given the honor today Russia has conferred the same award on Xi Jinping as well the Chinese president received it in 2017 two years later Moscow honored Prime Minister Modi and by doing this Putin is sending an important message that his relationship with India is as important as his ties with China and the West has been watching these developments closely not without sharp reaction tonight we’ll tell you all about it the day began with formal engagements the India Russia delegation level Talks co-chaired by Prime Minister Modi and President Putin the tone for today’s Summit was set last evening when Putin hosted Modi for dinner this was an informal meeting the dinner meeting at the Russian president estate outside Moscow and the chemistry between the two leaders was evident President Putin welcomed Prime Minister Modi with a hug hello there were several such moments the Russian president took the indan Prime Minister on a tour of his data or estate and they were seen riding a golf cart together Putin even introduced Modi to his pet horses social media was full of memes comparing this reception to the longtable treatment that Western leaders get in Moscow off late evidently the Russian leader attaches great significance to his relationship with India and this was abundantly clear when both leaders sat down for discussions for [Music] [Music] after this exchange Modi and Putin were left alone with their translators for a freewheeling chat they discussed important issues like the war in Ukraine Prime Minister Modi told President Putin a solution will not not be found on the battlefield and this is a very significant statement it is a direct appeal from India to end the war in Ukraine it is also in line with what Modi told Putin back in 2022 when they’ met in usbekistan on the sidelines of the SEO the shangai cooperation organization Summit that’s when Modi told Putin and I’m quoting this is not the era of war and yesterday he urged the Russian leader to explore diplomatic options the same message was reiterated during the the formal Summit today as well so India is pushing for peace and talks India is also clear that these talks must include Russia which explains why New Delhi did not endorse the Swiss declaration last month I’m referring to the Ukraine peace Summit Switzerland had hosted it in June more than 90 countries participated in the summit India to Center representative but Russia was not in invited to this Summit in Switzerland so India refused to Jo to sign the joint communi it said that there can be no meaningful and sustainable resolution without moscow’s presence this was India’s message to the West at the same time it is asking Russia to abide by the United Nations Charter to respect Ukraine’s sovereignity and territorial Integrity Prime Minister Modi addressed this with President Putin and that’s the biggest highlight of this visit he also raised the issue of the repatriation of Indian citizens those serving in Russian forces Reports say there are at least 40 such Indians stuck in Russia they were tricked by agents into joining the Russian forces and India has been trying to secure their release yesterday there was a breakthrough President Putin agreed to discharge all Indian citizens there were agreements on some other key issues as well like on trade where both countries have set an ambitious Target bilateral trade currently stands at $65 billion they want to raise it all the way up to100 Billion by 2030 and this trade relationship is heavily skewed in Russia’s favor mainly due to India’s oil purchases we buy a lot of oil from Russia to fix this imbalance India has sought greater Market access from Russia on the defense front India had a specific concern we talked about this yesterday the delay in deliveries many of Russian many Russian supplies are running late they’re yet to deliver two S400 missile defense system systems Prime Minister Modi is believed to have raised this asking for Speedy deliveries India is also investing more in its partnership with Russia Today the Prime Minister made an announcement that India will open two more consulates in Russia in Kazan and your kinberg so overall it was a productive visit for Prime Minister Modi India managed to secure its strategic interests with a vital partner India also asserted its strategic autonomy and asked for an end to the war but not everyone is thrilled about this visit like the United States which is reacting on expected lines yesterday it said that it was concerned about prime minister modi’s engagements with Russia there’s another visitor in Moscow today uh Prime Minister Modi of India uh you know obviously India has a long-standing relationship with Russia what do you think of the timing of this right before the NATO Summit and in light of what’s going on we would urge India as we do any country when it engage engages with Russia India is a strategic partner with whom we engage in a full and Frank dialogue and that includes uh on our concerns about their relationship with Russia Ukraine’s president zalinski added to this he called Putin a quote unquote criminal he said prime minister modi’s engagements undermine the peace efforts for Ukraine in his statement zensi referred to yesterday’s air strikes on K where a children’s hospital was hit but both the US and Ukraine spoke too soon they should have waited for the Indian Prime Minister to speak because he too raised yesterday’s air strikes with Putin [Music] now that’s a strong message clearly India is advocating for the protection of civilians in Ukraine especially the children Prime Minister Modi is probably the first world leader to take up yesterday’s attack directly with the Russian president he also tackled another tricky issue India’s oil purchases from Russia Prime Minister Modi countered the Western criticism of these [Music] purchases in diplomacy the choice of words is everything prime minister modi’s statements demonstrate how skillfully India balances its ties between Russia and the West it’s a tough balance to maintain but India must do it to protect its National interest and so far New Delhi has done it well climate change is on our doorstep it’s time for a revolution to take Route and it starts with 1.4 billion Indians it starts with one tree one tree for Humanity one tree PM Modi’s Message to Putin on Ukraine War: No Solution on Battlefield | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed the final leg of his Russia visit today. He met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the annual India-Russia summit. Yesterday, PM Modi received a warm welcome in Moscow. President Putin hosted dinner for the Indian Prime Minister at his estate outside Moscow and the two leaders also engaged in a free-wheeling discussion. They discussed a wide range of issues, including the war in Ukraine, defence, trade, and energy. The summit is being seen as a success for India, with PM Modi being conferred Russia’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle. This honour puts India’s relationship with Russia on the same footing as China. Prime Minister Modi also called for an end to the war in Ukraine, urging Putin to explore diplomatic options. The West has been closely monitoring PM Modi’s Russia visit. The United States expressed concern about India’s relationship with Russia, while Ukrainian President Zelensky called Putin a “criminal” and said Modi’s visit undermined peace efforts.
Prime Minister Modi addressed the recent airstrikes in Kyiv, including the attack on a children’s hospital, directly with Putin. He also defended India’s oil purchases from Russia, stating they helped stabilise the global market. This highlights India’s attempt to balance its ties with Russia and the West. Palki Sharma tells you more.

MODI IS DESPERATE TO SELL HIS OLD INDIAN ARMY DECREPIT RUSSKY TANKS & EQUIPMENT BACK TO PUTIN FOR $$$BILLIONS.
MODI IS DESPERATE FOR RUSSKY NATURAL RESOURCES TO FEED ITS OVER-BREEDING, UNSUSTAINABLE INDIAN POPULATION NOW OVER 1.5-BILLIONS & GETTING BIGGER BY THE DAY.

  2. He should give this message not to Putin, because there is a solution for Russia in the battlefield, but not for the west.

  3. The missile which hit the hospital is the Finnish anti missile system which completely missed the Russia missile which destroyed an Ukraine defense factory and fell on the hospital

    Please check your facts!!!!!

  4. I am SO ASHAMED of this. This is not about balance of diplomatic relationships. This is endorsing a sick power hungry man. Russia needs to LEAVE UKRAINE!

  14. Putin is a war criminal and Mr. Narendra Modi (India's Prime Minister) should treat him the same way please. Having a fun time with him is not acceptable. Seriously, this is not good.

  15. Dead Little Soldiers Still Fighting For Peace

I have just come to know about killing of Ukrainian children from this broadcast of Ms Sharma. I had heard Prime Minister Modi stressing upon the heinous nature of the modern day warfare and ''the heart-breaking tragedy of innocent children becoming victims of war'' while talking to Putin in another video. I thought that was very courageous of him to say that to Putin's face (but still didn't realise he was not talking in general but referring to a specific recent incident).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emotionally charged response___ undiplomatic as it might seem to sticklers of protocol among the (so-called) foreign policy specialists___ is, therefore, all the more creditable. For his part, normally 'irascible-to-foreign-intervention' Russian leader, heard out Modi's criticism of his war crime very coolly. Unlike Israeli Prime Minister, he did not try to brazen it out.

The contrast between the two war criminals couldn't have been more stark; Mr Netanyahu is a shameless hussy with no pretence to any conscience or scruples. Having killed more than 38000 civilians ____tens of thousands of them innocent children_____ he can sit brass-necked in blasé insouciance in front of the world to make such bullshit claims as ''Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are the most moral army in the world…''.

Vladimir Putin is in an altogether different class in public relations & communications and is a far more skilled operator. He can be rather prickly whenever he perceives Russia's 'core national interests' having been threatened. But his general conduct of Diplomatique on international stage is exemplary and is, generally, couched in the language of international law.

Despite all of his expertise in the complex dance of balancing the world opinion with proxy wars in various regions of the world with the US to establish Russia as the 'Other Superpower' (that engages, rather than compromises), he is suddenly on a sticky on this issue. You are not seeing him react to Modi's remarks because he realises a grave blunder has been committed in a war going rather well for him so far.

The bombing of a children's hospital is a human tragedy the world is unlikely to ignore. The crimes of this genre by US and Israel, brazen as the two powers have been thru out about them, have kindled to a smouldering lava of worldwide hatred against them that threatens to scorch them internationally.

Now Putin stands with them in the dock too.

Or, may be, he has chosen to stand in the dock himself just to save the skin of several high profile war criminals, including three American Presidents, by giving them the naked ruse that they cannot be tried for war crimes until Putin is tried too.

The public opinion in US can consider giving a Tony Blair style (fraudulent) 'Inquisition' to their war criminals, Russians would never agree to humiliating their 'biggest hero'.

So no trial for any war criminal, neither in Moscow, nor in Washington or Tel-Aviv. And Putin gets a big pay off, like always, from Washington for pulling a lot of nuts out of fire.

Peace here, or even a cease-fire would also save the 21st century (slimmed up) version of Ukrainian Winston Churchill from humiliation of a certain and absolutely total defeat and freedom from investigations of corruption (he IS Ukrainian) in more than a hundred billion dollars of US & European taxpayer's funds.

If Narender Modi can pull off a peace deal here between Russia and Ukraine_____ his statement gives me the hope that wily Indian Prime Minister has worked out the 'other' end already and was in Moscow only to sew up the two_____ he would be able raise India's stature internationally. And his own too.

There would be, doubtless, some jibes at home, and from Pakistan, as well as some in the international media, about ''The Butcher Of Gujarat suddenly feeling so much for children of the world''. But who cares if he wins peace. A peace here would save a lot of political careers in US, Britain, Europe and Israel.

Narender Modi would be a hero of the world peace forever after. I am wondering, though, how would he meet (would he shake hands?) with Benjamin Netanyahu now that he has expressed solidarity with innocent children killed by war, rather than with their killers.

There are, surely, more than 20,000 bodies of dead children lying under the rubble in Gaza.

  16. A few years ago, Indian elites thought that America was the future. They now understand that the USA is kaput and the future is multipolar.

The renewed strategic partnership with Russia will likely lead to a detente with China.
