This is probably not the best place to ask this but I suddenly got interested after watching videos of the Dutch fans tussling with English ones in Germany.
So, I’m an American trying to understand this sport better.
You have, national teams which compete in the World Cup, which is a FIFA event. In the US, even if you don’t care about this sport (which a lot of us famously don’t — and I don’t know why; it just…is), you’ve heard of FIFA and the World Cup and you have a sense of what it is, because it’s big.
UEFA, which is what this match appears to be about, is just Europe (and less understood in the US). I understand now it comes down between England and Spain.
My question is: Are the teams which compete in FIFA the same teams which compete in UEFA? In other words, if I watch England in UEFA, will that be the same team (same players, etc.) that competes in the World Cup?
