I have left Germany for a while, so last month I purchased a service from Aboalarm to send a postal mail to Sparkasse Aachen to close my bank account.
The cancellation form was signed with an auto-generated signature. Now they want another signature (I guess a handwritten one). Seriously, Sparkasse is such a pain in the ass.
Should I send them another cancel letter with my signature?

Closing a regular banking account is one of the easiest things that there is in my experience.
The pain in the ass, I am afraid, in this situation is not Sparkasse. You could’ve, as the letter says, either sand them a signed letter **or** close it in your online banking.
You did not do either and used (and paid? Why would you pay for that?) a service that did not do what you paid them for properly because you **obviously** can not close a banking account without authentication, be it via your online banking or a hand signed letter.

You have a letter there that tells you **exactly** what you can do.
Why don’t you log in and cancel it online just as they told you to do.
