There are few more awful public figures than Clarence Thomas. He’s a disgrace to the judiciary and to this country.

Buried on page 14 of a [letter](https://www.whitehouse.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/2024-07-03-Letter-to-AG-Garland-re-Special-Counsel-FINAL.pdf) that two Democratic senators sent to Attorney General [Merrick Garland](https://www.thedailybeast.com/republican-led-house-votes-to-hold-attorney-general-merrick-garland-in-contempt-over-biden-audio) on Tuesday, in which they urged Garland to appoint a special counsel to probe Thomas, was an astonishing list of dozens of “likely undisclosed gifts and income” from Crow, Crow’s affiliated companies, and “other donors.”
In the letter, Sens. [Sheldon Whitehouse ](https://www.thedailybeast.com/author/sheldon-whitehouse)(D-RI) and [Ron Wyden](https://www.thedailybeast.com/russians-used-greed-to-capture-nra-senator-ron-wyden-alleges-in-new-report) (D-OR) said Thomas, one of the court’s staunchly [conservative justices](https://www.axios.com/2019/06/01/supreme-court-justices-ideology), even may have committed tax fraud and violated other federal laws by “secretly” accepting the gifts and income potentially worth millions.
“The Senate is not a prosecutorial body, and the Supreme Court has no fact-finding function of its own, making the executive role all the more important if there is ever to be any complete determination of the facts,” reads the letter requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor.
“We do not make this request lightly,” said the letter.
The list of potentially secret gifts also includes a loan of more than $267,000 provided by Thomas’ close friend Anthony Welters, the yacht trip to Russia from the Baltics, and the helicopter ride to Yusupov Palace in St. Petersburg. If Harlan Crow didn’t pay gift taxes on these, the result could be 5 years in prison and a $250k fine per incident. Luckily, the impotent Merrick Garland isn’t the main enforcer here, but the IRS is. If Billionaires start going to prison, we might see some more respect for the law.

When I was 25 and a single parent and going through some of the worst shit of my life, I worked as a federal student aid worker, college program when you work at
the university and study, and I couldn’t take anything over $20 from any person…… so I find this ironic to say the least. He is a piece of shit.
I get that it’s how politics work, but it’s weird how a certain group of people are up in arms about Hunter Biden maybe possibly taking bribes for reasons maybe possibly related to his father, but they give not a fuck about several Supreme Court Justices (and Thomas in particular) getting all sorts of “favors” from rich benefactors for reasons that I’m sure have nothing to do with his job title.
Either he’s taking bribes, or him and Harlan Crow are fucking.
There is no other logical explanation for this.

Their explanations are pathetic: “we’re dear friends.” Yeah, well, that’s the problem. Thomas is supposed to recuse himself from cases in which his friend has an interest. But he didn’t.
Clarence quickly taking the mantle of most hated SC Justice from Scalia, who ironically enough died while on a similar luxury trip. This dude saw that as a challenge I guess.
Again: Biden needs to award Anita Hill a Medal of Freedom for what they put her through in the early 90s. She’s a household name, she didn’t ask for it, and the Thomases are the scum of the earth.
He sat on the court for decades and did not ask one question during oral arguments and just went with Scalia on every decision. He is not even a real jurist. He’s someone appointed to mock the legacy of Thurgood Marshall just as The handmaiden justice mocks the legacy of RBG.

It’s just obvious corruption that he changed the law to allow tips (post dated bribes) after he had accepted all of these gratuities. Like, who in their right minds would see this, and think that’s ok in their country.

**Canon 5: A Judge Should Refrain from Political Activity**
(A) *General Prohibitions*. A judge should not:
(1) act as a leader or hold any office in a political organization;
(2) make speeches for a political organization or candidate, or publicly endorse or oppose a candidate for public office; or
(3) solicit funds for, pay an assessment to, or make a contribution to a political organization or candidate, or attend or purchase a ticket for a dinner or other event sponsored by a political organization or candidate.
(B) *Resignation upon Candidacy*. A judge should resign the judicial office if the judge becomes a candidate in a primary or general election for any office.
(C) *Other Political Activity*. A judge should not engage in any other political activity. This provision does not prevent a judge from engaging in activities described in Canon 4.
