Just shows what a lack of assassins and the best health care in the world can do.
It’s highly unlikely anyone will ever beat that record. Ascending to the throne that young will be almost unheard of because the previous monarch is unlikely to die young. And there will likely be no new de jure monarchies in the future.
Don’t forget that she was already an adult when she became queen, many people on that list were born into their role or became regent when they were children. So it’s even a little bit more impressive.
I wonder what will happen to all the other states she’s currently a head of state once she’s gone.
I imagine at least some of them will switch to republics.
This is probably the most exclusive discipline to get a world record in.
Pakal’s 68 years is such an impressive regency given the time period and medical standards at this time. It’s like if someone were to rule 110 years by today’s standards.
Do people actually update these numbers every day or is there some kind of algorithm to do it?
One thing to note is that this list only covers monarchs of fully independent states. The same Wikipedia article contains a list with other monarchs (mostly of colonies and states within the Holy Roman Empire) with longer reigns, with the record being 82 years.
She could top them all
Go Queeny go, go go
I love that she said this yesterday:
“And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
It’s gonna be Queen Camilla after all.
Hope she can hold out for two and a half more years 🙏👸
how long was queen victoria’s reign?
Fun fact: she was crowned during Korean war.
Another fun fact: British troops honoured the coronation by firing salvos into enemy positions
Is she gonna break the record tho?
Wow Louis XIV 72 years in the XVII century, that’s wild.
Palenque’s king looks also wild, but back in the VII you never know about the accuracy of the dates.
Good to see mah boy Pakal still going strong in the list.
I’m impressed Louis XIV even lived that long in the 18th century
And around 96% of the people currently alive on the planet were born during her reign as queen.
The God Empress of Britkind
Im more amazed by the fact that someone in the 1600s managed to live long enough to reign for 72 years.
Do you think there is guy going Online every day to increase her Reigning Time by one in that Article?
I feel like with today medicine and her nobility she can last another 3 years. She looks really good for 95.
My parents, me and my kids … all born under her reign !
Going for top spot
This is because she’s undying and eternal. Soon it will be 100, then 200, and eventually 1,000.
She is 3 years older than Anne Frank.
And Louis XIV became king super young at age 4 iirc. It definitely isn’t a record easy to beat but Elizabeth might get it!
So another 2 years and 111 days before she dies — just to stick to the French
She was already a queen when my father was born and she was still a queen when he died.
If she dies within 3 years, I blame the French. Doesnt matter how she dies, the French were involved in someway.
Louis the 14th was king for so long that when he died, his grandson took over because his son had already died.
Also, she is 3 years away from becoming the oldest head of state in history.
The record belongs to the Doge of Venice, Enrico Dandolo.
Oj the day of her husbands funeral she had been on the throne for 69 years and 69 days
