More than 1,000 Dutch residents plan to throw rotten eggs at Jeff Bezos’ superyacht if it ends up forcing a historic bridge be dismantled for it to pass through

  1. Is this one of those super-yachts that has inbuilt defense systems? Like, it just shoots the eggs out of the sky before they hit?

  2. He is payong for the bridge to be dismantled and it willing to pay local government more than covering costs. It is not the first time the bridge was dismantled, sure it was for a different reason but it’s not like it hasn’t been done before.

Say what you want about Jeff, I’m not a fan myself, but his super yacht project and the bridge brings a lot of job opportunities and money to Rotterdam. The only downside, as far as I can tell, is that it is Jeff Bezos and he isn’t exactly a likable person. To say it mildly.

  3. I’m not a fan of Jeff Bezos at all but the construction of his yacht secured jobs to the local community and he’s paying for all the works for the dismantling of the bridge which is going to be rebuild in two weeks. All this shouting is really non sense.

  4. This whole story is the perfect example of how “the media” is stirring up the feelings of the population.

The bridge will not be “dismantled”. A movable part will be removed and later be put back in place. It has happened before and will likely happen in the future again.

The bridge is not even is use anymore, so it will not disturb any traffic.

The whole anger against this event is solely caused by media outlets to generate clicks and thus revenue. And of course they omit or twist facts to generate more clicks.

  5. Lol, people think Jeff is going to be scrubbing the ship after the eggs have been thrown?

Shouldn’t they be protesting against the shipyards that make these super yachts for Jeff, Russian oligarchs, Saudi princes etc?

  6. I never understood actions like this, he probably won’t ever even hear of this, as he probably gets his news filtered out and only business relevant stuff shown, and he most definitely won’t clean or be inconvenienced by this. Some poor person will be cleaning it all up, and making it all shiny and smelling nice before he even approaches the yacht.

The only message this sends is to the government to shut down the shipyards as ship building and the things that come with it are not welcome there by the population. Which of course also won’t happen because then people would bitch that about a lack of jobs.

Everyone who participates in this is extremely close minded and ignorant.

  7. Where do you get rotten eggs, can you buy them anywhere? Are there people who keep eggs long past their expiration date in case they want to throw them at someone?

  8. Dutch are great at business, so if they’ve considered they could move part of the bridge without damaging it and being paid by bezzos + a fee, I really am no one to complain about it

  9. Bezos is a private citizen, not a politician. He could if he wanted to, sue the protestors for damages.

  10. The sad part is that if the boat gets egged he will just make people clean it and not even think about it
