It’s absolutely inexcusable that they missed this guy if he really was only 400 yards away in an elevated position, but as always, never attribute to malice what can equally be explained by incompetence.

28. Man, I miss the mid to late 90’s. It really did feel like a lull in the insanity that human history cycles through. that whole pre-9/11 decade. Of course, I’m not naive enough to believe there were not truly awful things happening around the world and all sorts of scandals going on but coming home from school and watching Star Trek: TNG (thanks Roddenberry for making me believe the United Federation of Planets was a possible future for us) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then going out rollerblading and fishing seemed like a pretty docile time compared to the fire and brimstone politics and teetering edge of madness we seem to be living through now.

36. As others pointed out, the FBI won’t announce his name but there’s a name circulating. Makes me think someone local here in Butler or near here knows the guy, and knows he did it. Then leaked (sold) the name to the NY Post. That or the name is completely false.

38. Apparently some dude named “jewgazing” on Twitter is a doppelganger for the shooter and he’s purposefully posting pictures and videos of himself as the shooter for meme clout purposes. And had fooled numerous people.

    What a world.

39. Just searched for this guy’s voter registration on the PA Secretary of State’s voter registration site. It’s legit – he registered as Republican 8 days after his 18th birthday and hasn’t changed it since.
