New York bridge gets stuck open on hottest day of year

it was so hot in New York yesterday that a bridge was stuck open it was the hottest day of the year so far in the United States and the steel on the bridge linking the Bronx with Manhattan swelled up stopping it from closing it did reopen but only once it had been sprayed down with water to keep it cool

  1. Just amazing. 30C and Europe’s and USA’s infrastructure (which is an oxymoron) just collapse.

UK roads melting , the roads buckling.

Tropical countries have been managing this for a while. Long long time.

  2. may be it wasnt greased for the past 50 years and this is why it got stuck?? moving parts and parts that exposed to friction need to be greased!

  3. This is why we have tolerances in engineering, this should still function in freezing and blazing hot temperatures if they designed it correctly

  4. 💀 give much you wanna bet it’s due to lack of maintenance and they sprayed it saying it was the heat so them putting the money in there pockets and not infrastructure don’t make them look bad they blame everything on a false global warming there is no proof of it

  5. It’s 2024 and we still got swing bridges?? Poor bridge is toooold anyways. I guess they’ll patch it up like the rest of em, meanwhile they’ll build a pedestrian bridge for walking and biking because it’s apparently great for revenue

  6. There wouldn’t be any reports like this if Trump were president! Simply because it would be completely illegal to use the phrase, global warming, or heat wave or hottest day ever, etc.

  7. Are you serious. It’s been much hotter in NY City in the past, and in the country historically. Reference the dust Bowl years.

Stop with the fake drama. The bridge issue may have been heat related. But I’m willing to bet a serious lack of proper maintenance was more of an issue.

    BBC, the CNN of Britain.

  8. Can we all start paying more attention to the continuous bridge failures, main roadway construction/barricades, airplane failures, junk technology in new vehicles and start assuming the government is planning to trap us like the people of Maui??

  9. It’s sad how China, Europe and the rest of them won’t have modern basic infrastructure and technologies and the United States have infrastructures that are are very old. Instead of learning from the rest of the world all the know is making weapons 😂😂

  10. So 39°C to 40°C (102°-104° F) thats chill.
51°C (123.8°F) was recorded in India Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan that too in the most populous places like Delhi, Jaipur, Karachi, Lahore, Kabul, etc.
102-104 is decent here, more like cool.

Even city of Mumbai was recorded at 46°C with 89% humidity🤦🏻‍♂️
