Bought this thing at a flea market today. I know its a shoulder or uniform padding, but for what rank or type of service i don’t know. If anyone has the answer to this, please let me know!

  1. Looks like the patch for a Major but I don’t recall seeing one like this in the Belgian army

  2. The red lines make me think that these are firefighter epaulettes/passanten. But normally those have a helmet depicted too.

  3. this is a patch of the old army dress uniforms (called service dress) in the belgian army .. the rank is major.

  4. This is the symbol for a major, the star and underlining stripe is to this day still the symbol for a major in the land component of the Belgian army. The patch itself however is different nowadays, it’s like a brownish rectangular velcro patch for the normal uniforms

  5. Old service dress rank of an artillery major from the Belgian Army. I understand why people guess it’s from fire department because of the color scheme but their ranks always contained the helmet and axes logo.
