We're on a road trip in Poland, Warsaw to Mazury, and we noticed these trees everywhere along the highway.
We think they are sosna pines based on Google searches. But totally fine to be wrong.
The question is, why does the bark color of the tree change from the normal brown to a reddish/lighter color partway up the tree?
It looks kind of like the bark was stripped from the tree or something. Some trees have more, some have less, some have none.
Any ideas? We've searched google and have given up.

Sosna pines like you said. Totally normal, as they grow up the lower branches I guess dry and break off. In Poland there are many forests of this type
