Let’s be real: Biden isn’t going to fix anything to do with the Supreme Court. He didn’t do it his first term and stated he wouldn’t. Get someone a little more progressive who actually gives a shit.
Yup, gotta have the keys to drive the car
Real RBG got us here and RBG will get us out energy
Gaslighting at its finest
He’s had nearly 4 years. Things have only gotten worse.
Or…. Let’s swap Biden out with a more viable candidate. I don’t believe voting for him is the only way to fix the Supreme Court…..
That’s an angle
Oh yeah? What’s he going to do about it, Eric? Wax poetic about it?
Biden isn’t going to win this election. He just doesn’t have the support, the numbers.
If a Republican wins presidency next year they will likely get two appointments. If Biden wins there is a small chance he gets an appointment or two. It’s not a guarantee at all. However, having two new young conservatives will likely make the courts solid right wing for the rest of our lives. Something unexpected would have to happen to get back a majority.
Biden is too soft to fix anything. Get a young candidate in please
No shit
You mean “nothing will fundamentally change” Joe Biden? Him? I don’t think so.
In fairness, that didn’t work last time and there’s zero reason to believe that Biden will change his tune in the future.
Biden is acceptable only in comparison to someone like Trump. Otherwise, he’s a dud. The US needed profound change and all he could muster was pocket change and an old Worthers.
America already elected Biden in 2020 and the Supreme Court issues didn’t get fixed.
Claiming that “Biden alone can fix it!” reminds me of trump’s “I alone can fix it!”
When the survival of the American experiment is completely dependent on the success of a single individual, and not the society as a whole, then democracy is doomed.
Yep. Thomas and Alito are in their upper 70s and health seems to be an issue. Could easily flip the court to 5-4 in liberal favor if Democrats hold the White House. Sotomayor also likely would step down and be replaced by a younger Justice.
How? Biden has already came out against court packing. Best case scenario the court doesn’t slide further to the right and we maybe get 1 more progressive-ish justice to make it 5-4 conservative instead of 6-3
He’s President NOW
Seems like based on the article he’s not saying only Biden can do it. He’s saying preventing Trump from winning is the main way to stop further damage. If you’re hoping for a new candidate, I wouldn’t see this as endorsing only Biden.
I do agree with others that Biden hasn’t been bold on the Supreme Court and I’ve criticized him on that before, but neither has really anyone else in the party except like AOC. I think there’s a lot of fear of upsetting those pesky swing voters by messing with the Court. It somewhat hampers the message of preserving democracy if Dems look like they’re trying to pack the court in their favor. I’m guessing that’s the concern.
We already elected Biden to take care of stuff like this.
Judges should apply the letter of the law, there shouldn’t be Conservative or Democrat ones. In fact any judge identifying as either should automatically be dismissed.
Lmao well of course he would say that. Why are you acting like this is news?
Swalwell is the type of stupid Democrat we need to stop electing.
Agree. Vote 💙
Really? Well hes president right now and hasnt done anything lol
Only if the Administration plans on expanding the Supreme Court.
Biden should step down and we should have someone young and energetic who can get youth vote along with undecided voters. Biden is less appealing now than he was in 2020.
Winning back the house snd senate along with the WH is what’s really needed. We need legislation with 9 or 18 year term limits.
If you understand how Leonard Leo not only selected the recent justices but also built the pool of selectees that those justices come from, then you’ll understand the next few availabilities will also be conservative.

People still don’t seem to recognize the stakes. Supreme Court is the least of our concerns. The Republicans will not blow their last chance at converting our system of government into an autocracy. The President King’s power will dwarf the courts. There doesn’t even have to be any courts if the President doesn’t want them. Once they’ve made the autocratic break there is no going back as it aligns all individuals incentives so that they support continued rule. That means for example it serves an election worker’s personal interests to rig things on The Leader’s behalf vs the way they are currently incentivized to prioritize integrity. Anything is possible under autocratic rule. Ever donate to the DNC? Why shouldn’t they lock you up or give you a special tax status where you pay double?
If McConnell was able to block Obama from appointing Merrick Garland what makes anyone think they can’t block other nominations, regardless of the timing?
Not just electing Biden, but winning Congress as well… plus a greater majority hold on the Senate!
Well if they would have broken the filibuster and expanded the court a few years ago we wouldn’t be here.
Biden is literally the president now and has done nothing other than give some semi-stern words. Democrats need to run against the Court, do everything they can to expand and pack it, and ignore decisions that undermine their ability to govern. Republicans have very clearly shed the pretense that the Court is an apolitical body, and Democrats need to do the same. Playing by the rules means nothing when the other side fundamentally understands that the issue is obtaining and wielding *power.*
I’m not sure that’s true. Nobody can force anyone any of these justices to retire or die.
At this point, we need more than just Supreme Court reform, and yet Biden doesn’t really project any sort of alternative path to the one already set in motion. The best chance is for Biden to be switched out so Trump and the MAGA party doesn’t use the assassination attempt to show vigor and energy against a literal ghoul moments away from the casket.
The next President, no matter who they are, has a good chance of replacing 3 possibly even 4 of the justices with 3 of those being Alito, Thomas, and Roberts (Sotomayor is the most likely to retire on the liberal side).
Having a Dem President and Senate for the next 4-8 years will all but guarantee a 6-3 liberal court for a decade or longer.
