  1. There’s a name I haven’t heard in ages. His Whose Line episode remains one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on TV.

  2. He was both ridiculous and loveable at the same time. I believe he did a lot of good.

  3. David Letterman spraying him with a fire extinguisher while he flew around like cupid.

Always the first image i think of when the name is brought up.

Also for helping my mom sweat to the oldies.

  4. dude i just looked him up yesterday on google because of the young sheldon ep where georgie and mr lundy tried to copy Richard simmons and his show and now his gone rip

  5. Dr. Ruth and Richard Simmons passing away on the same day. It is like a generation of pop culture dying all at once.

  6. Oh wow – he was literally JUST in the news about shore and a show.

  7. I’ll never forget the CHS tapes my Grandmother had. So ’90s.
His appearance on Whose Line? was also one of, if not *the*, most memorable guests the show ever had.
Are you Richard Simmons best friend… Riichard Siimmons?

  8. His Sweatin’ to the Oldies is iconic. Thanks for being you, Mr. Richard Simmons.

  9. Pauly Shore rubbing his hands together with dollar signs in his eyes

  10. Damn. I know Howard Stern had reminisced about him a couple of times recently that I think led to a tweet about the show by Richard. I was holding a slight hope he might’ve reached out at some point.

A really entertaining and interesting man who appeared to be quite burdoned by the large amounts of good he did for people. May he rest in peace.

  11. I always admired how unafraid this man was to be himself. He was a total revolutionary in the fitness scene too, and was the first person to put overweight people in his workout videos. He was the first person to not fat shame and to create workouts that were for people who were really out of shape.

  12. He recently started posting a lot on Facebook again. How sad.
    Thank you Richard.

  13. Me and my brother were just talking about him yesterday! I love Richard Simmons! Grew up Sweatin to the Oldies and still do it occassionaly.

Guess I know what I’m doing tonight!

  14. He was the butt of so many Jokes in the 90s and all he wanted to do was get people healthier…

    Rest in Peace

  15. “They always come in threes” YIKES I didn’t want to start guessing after Shelly Duvall and Dr. Ruth but I was thinking it. Damn, RIP.

  16. You can feel the the audience is exhausted after laughing in the who’s line skits.

    It’s extremely noticable.

That man knew how to ham up his character. Wish him well in the afterlife.

  17. Rest in Peace, Richard

You helped millions. There is no finer legacy one can leave behind.

  18. I have distinct memories of joining my mom while she did Sweatin with the Oldies. She also had one where he did slightly less energetic exercises with celebrity parents like Sylvester Stallone’s mom and Al Pacino and Dustin Hoffmans dads. I always loved his kind, positive, and slightly crazy energy when I was a kid. You could tell that he was really passionate about the work he did.

  19. I’m gonna dust off the VHS and toss on a Sweatin to the Oldies tape and then pour one out

  20. This made me cry. Such a sweet man who seemed to ALWAYS be himself.. And thats why he shined so bright.

    I love you, Richard 💙

  21. Somewhere, paulie shore is writing the ending to his Richard Simmons movie that won’t get made

  22. RIP Richard, thank you for helping so many people in your lifetime. ❤️

  23. His Letterman and Howard Stern appearances will always be hilarious! He did a lot of good, too. RIP, Richard.

  24. My granny is 105. She credits Richard Simmons with her long life as she did his videos daily into her late 90s. Thanks for keeping my granny fit Richard. I wish you had gotten a few more years yourself.

  25. Met him once in line at a store. I told him what a fan I was and he said he hoped I’d have a wonderful day with some healthy exercise. Lovely lovely man.

  26. Once or twice a year Richard would visit a restaurant I worked at. That man lit up a room like none other. The joy he spread was a marvel of humanity. RIP

  27. Thanks for the memories, Richard. Nothing but respect.

  28. And the universe almost got rid of trump also. But unfortunately it was staged.

  29. He truly made a tangible difference in so many lives. He brought light, motivation, and encouragement to many dark rooms across this country. It wasn’t only physical fitness, but emotional fitness, that at the time, wasn’t a multi-billion dollar scam business, designed to exploit those desperate for relief. He said to the generations left behind ‘Hey, you-are-not-alone, not even close!’ ‘Get up!’ We’re all going to do something today, right now, let’s do it together!’ And he didn’t just sit in a chair and spout jargon, he was out there leading the charge and innovating. He had a sincere, enthusiastic, positivity that could never be matched. He outshined cynical, smoke-filled entertainment, with every appearance. I was fortunate enough to see him during a taping of ‘Win Lose or Draw.’ I just knew him as ‘The Fitness Guy’, but I honestly can’t remember ANY of the other guests, he simply dominated the show with his unstoppable energy and presence. I hope more come to appreciate how important he was to so many. Goodbye Richard, and Thank You. 🙏

  30. He will be remembers fondly, but knowing how the past 10 years have gone for him, it’s worth pointing out how absolutely disgusting the media kept hounding him every year or two with rumors and speculative garbage.

Man just wanted to live privately, but he kept getting intrusions. And the law wasn’t even on his side, he lost lawsuits regarding some of the rumors about him being libel, which I’m sure made him recluse even more.
