Today, Keir Starmer’s new Labour government announced a “rooftop revolution” to install solar panels in millions more homes to lower energy bills and address the climate crisis.
This weekend, Ed Miliband approved three massive solar farms in the east of England that Tory ministers had blocked, a controversial decision.
Great to see Labor hit the ground running
I don’t know why the U.S. isn’t doing this. It seems like a no-brainer.
Needs to add storage. Scotland should embrace sand batteries for heating. Pumped storage in Lake District.
Solar in the uk? The least sunny country?
So with this announcement of solar panels on new builds and last weeks announcement about not issuing new oil drilling licences. Does this mean we’ve see the last of those just stop oil clowns?
Good job UK! Finally some change 🙂
Who’s making the solar panels? No, not China again !!
Making the same mistake as the Netherlands. We were told to put solar panels on the roof and now they’re forcefully shutting them down because the grid can’t handle all the extra power during summer. During winter it barely adds anything to the grid. I still don’t know what I’m going to do with my 12 panels.
So the UK will finally leave fossils behind sooner?
But you guys…don’t get…any…sun…
we almost had a rooftop revolution here in the states
Yeah, and there was that “White heat of technology” back in the day. Plus ca change…..
I love rooftop solar, but isn’t the UK kind of known for its lack of sunshine?
Let’s fucking go!
Nice idea but people who want solar panels either have them or can’t afford them. You want a decent solar panel array with a decent battery you’re looking in excess of £12k. It’s a bit delusional to think normal people have this sort of money just sat in the bank. So apart from the solar farms I fail to see how this is going to be a solar revolution
I wonder exactly where these solar farms are been placed? The UK currently only has the capacity to produce 50% of the food required to feed our population. If these solar farms are been placed on green land then it’s a disgrace
