  1. Interesting to see Farage’s comments blaming the Democrats.

I wonder in the age of AI if it will be easier to start visualising things like stochastic terrorism. Like, let’s put in all the public statements of every Democrat politician vs every Republican politician and get an idea of who has promoted violence more.

  2. There’s already a conspiracy theory going round that it was a false flag to give Trump a bump in the polls.

  3. Any attack on any person is wrong and any attack on any politician is awful news for any democracy.
That said, maybe the likely future POTUS should take the hint and rethink his extremely pro-guns stance…

  4. Trump is a dangerous moron, but lets still agree that you don’t shoot political opponents, you debate them.

  5. I don’t see what’s so shocking. Americans love guns, violence and shooting each other.

  6. Nigel “no shots fired after an MP gets shot” Farage blaming liberals for the crimes of a Republican.

  7. I suspect there woll be a move by many politicians to bump up spending on their security.

  8. Hard to have any sympathy with all the threats and violent rhetoric he spouts. If you’re going to foster extremism you can’t be surprised when it comes for you.

  9. Remember we’ve had two MPs murdered in the past 10 years, whether you agree with their political views or not you end a politicians career at the ballot box not with a bullet. That’s why even throwing milkshakes on people shouldn’t be supported because one persons milkshake is another persons knife and people running for public office shouldn’t be threatened with violence.

  10. Makes you so glad you live in the UK, as much of a clown show our political situation is, we’re very lucky we have the system and politicians we do. Sunak resigned from his post, admitted failure and said his party failed, the debates were professional etc etc there was no calls of foul play, russian interference or stolen elections or people trying to storm the house of commons.

  11. This is absolutely inexcusable, and Joe Biden did the right thing by condemning it, but I can’t help think that had it been Biden who was shot, Trump would say something like “Well he upset a lot of people. These things happen.”

  12. What’s shocking about Americans thinking they can solve problems by shooting people?

  13. I’m not shocked, I’m disappointed. America has a long history of political assassinations. It could be argued that it reflects normal functioning democracy there. I don’t think there is any democratic country with more heads of state shot at/killed. To come out all po faced pretending you wouldn’t be glad to see the back of Trump is disingenuous.

  14. I hope they use this to ban guns, they won’t but oh well.

  15. I’m surprised that it didn’t happen soon. An attempt on a presidential candiate because of er… of the stuff that has been said over there and american politics are rather mean.

    Hopefully, it won’t happen again.

  16. I don’t know why anyone’s shocked, that place is so polarised right now, people calling for violence against the candidate on the other side and riots in the White House.

  17. All this causes is more division. Just look at some of these comments

  18. I feel so sorry for that guy. Trump took power when he was 12 and his country has been tearing itself apart for his entire life since adolescence. He tried to stop the man who wanted to destroy his democracy and become an authoritarian fascist dictator, and for that he’s having his looks mocked on Reddit. I can’t imagine how difficult it was for this guy to decide to martyr himself to try and save his country from autocracy, and this is what he gets. Condemnation from the people he was trying to save.

  19. It’s America, the world’s most dangerous circus. Nothing surprising here.

  20. “If you could would you go back in time and shoot hitler”

  21. Nah that fat gross orange hemorrhoid needs to be put down. Project 2025 will affect us and we cannot let that happen
