  1. Doesnt Trump specifically not care if attendees are armed anyway? Isn’t that like, a big part of the J6 information uncovered?

Why would the secret service need to answer for anything here considering it was a republican shooter? Shouldnt thoughts and prayers suffice?

  2. I mean, they stopped him pretty fast. Secret service and local law enforcement failed to *prevent* the gunman

  3. Republican shooter republican target. Secret service very clearly doesn’t do it’s most basic of functions.

  4. They absolutely do. The fact that they supposedly declared the area “out of range” even though it was close enough for a large group of Trump supporters to gather (presumably to listen to his speech) means they, at the very least, should have had someone on that roof whether it was a SS agent or local law enforcement.

  5. > The US Secret Service has one job – to protect current and former US presidents – and in that they failed spectacularly when an attempt was made on Donald Trump’s life on Saturday.

They have second job: investigating financial crimes like back fraud and counterfeiting.

  6. It’s mind boggling, really. Less than 500 feet from the former President. How do you even get that close with an AR-15? And how did he get up on the rooftop? Did there just happen to be a ladder up and ready? Did the witnesses have to go through any type of security checkpoint to get as close as they did?

  7. Killing the shooter immediately after he fired means they had eyes on him.

I can understand not shooting a suspicious character right away but not securing the president while you have eyes on the shooter is ridicilous

  8. Yeah… I don’t believe for a second that this was a planned or staged event, but it’s completely plausible that there are people around Trump- including in the Secret Service- who might have a Willy Wonka-esque “stop, don’t” reaction to someone trying to take him out.

  9. One version of events I have heard is the shooter had his own ladder, but pretty much as soon as he began to get in position he was already made and that the shots he did get off were hurried. There is a clip that appears to show a police sniper scanning the shooter’s location *before* the shots + multiple eyewitnesses who said they were calling it out.

But still a major lapse to not have that roof covered in the first place, and another lapse to let Trump out of the scrum before they knew the threat was over(at that point they only knew one shooter was down and had no way to know if there wasn’t another)

  10. Trump sure is living up to his Teflon nickname. Not even a bullet can stop him. Such a crazy timeline.

  11. why is Trump having all his rallies outside which are much more difficult to secure? Is it because no arena will book him because of his failure to pay them in the last 10 years?

  12. Trump should not have been on the stage the second the shooter’s presence was alerted to law enforcement and secret service.

  13. Is it standard procedure to stop for pictures immediately after an attempted assassination? I just can’t let that go. It’s sus enough that a random man with a loaded rifle was able to gain roof access less than 200 yards from Trump. Why wouldn’t they assume there could be multiple threats?

  14. Secret Service still hasn’t explained erasing those 1/6 tapes after not before, the Select Committee asked for them. Don’t hold your breath on this one.

  15. I wonder how many phones will magically lose all their text messages. Like they did when Congress asked for the Jan 6 messages.

  16. How is it, that the USSS did not have a drone up, keeping an eye on the rooftops and surrounding areas ?

  17. You think they’ll delete their texts regarding this one like how they did on Jan 6th?

  18. Better ask them quick, before they delete their texts, emails, and phone records.

  19. The Secret Service failed to protect a presidential candidate. This was a major failure of security.

The solution is clear: All texts on Secret Service phones should be immediately deleted.

  20. no shit, this was beyond negligent.
rooftop, 150 yards away? that is a wet dream for any wannabe shooter.

    EDIT
    corrected ft to yards

  21. They still have to answer for why their text messages were deleted during g the Jan 6th investigation

  22. On a side note:

If the Secret Service can’t protect someone from an assassination attempt, then please do not expect teachers to wield a firearm in an attempt to defend against a mass shooter.

  23. Let’s let the vetting play out. Too much speculation, too little facts right now.

  24. And, letting Trump stop for a photo op. His head could have been blown off, along with their own. You can hear Trump yelling, “Wait! Wait! Wait!!” and they drop their hands so he can fist bump and pose for photos. Give me a freaking break. Does he look scared to you? 🤔

  25. This was an absolutely insane lapse in security. Even if you ignore all the people who were already trying to point law enforcement at the guy, the fact that there was a unsecured rooftop that close to a presidential candidate is shocking.
